  1. 1. Increased carbon sequestration of actively restored tropical forests in Sabah, Malaysia : a comparison of natural regeneration and active restoration

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and Management

    Författare :Johan Engström; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Degraded tropical forest; Active restoration; Carbon sequestration; Natural regeneration; Enrichment planting; Biomass accumulation;

    Sammanfattning : As restoration with assisted natural regeneration and enrichment planting becomes a more important and popular method to restore ecosystem services and mitigate negative climate effects, these treatments and their effectiveness is heavily debated. There are three main groups of opinions regarding restoration, one is that humans actively need to help nature recover and the second is that nature itself does a better job without our help and the third is somewhere in between. 2. 2. Tallsåddens potential för återbeskogning av marker med tjocka humustäcken eller torv i norra Sverige

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and Management

    Författare :Torben Svensson; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Pinus sylvestris; skogsföryngring; skogssådd; sådd; tall; torvmark; torvtäckt mark; våt fastmark; återbeskogning; Peat covered soil; peatland; Pinus sylvestris; reforestation; Scots pine; sowing; wet mineral soil;

    Sammanfattning : Kostnaden för frösådd är oftast lägre än för plantering och lyckade sådder ger vanligen återväxt med högre stamantal. I praktiskt skogsbruk tillämpas skogssådd inte på alla marker där åtgärden kunde vara ett realistiskt alternativ. Särskilt stor är tvekan att så på marker med tjocka humustäcken. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Intercropping oats with annual clovers : effects on yields and aspects of biodiversity

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Ecology

    Författare :Anna Douhan Sundahl; [2021]
    Nyckelord :intercropping; cover cropping; pollinators; natural predators; weeds; clover; oats;

    Sammanfattning : The use of fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides has contributed to greatly increase the crop yields per hectare. Humanity has become reliant on artificial inputs overshadowing usage of resources from ecosystem services that we continue to weaken further, by using agricultural practises decreasing landscape and species diversity. 4. 4. A detailed study on Amazon Forest structure and mortality rates through LPJ-GUESS vegetation model

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Sara Mazzuoli; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Amazon s Forest; LPJ-GUESS; simulation; TEAM-NETWORK; dynamic vegetation model; observation; mortality; allometry; tree stand structure; biomass; cohort; PFTs; plant functional types; NPP; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Nowadays it has become relevant for scientists to understand the impact of tropical forest structure on the Global Carbon Cycle. Dynamic vegetation models have been developed to pursue this issue, specifically by improving algorithms that could analyze the allometry, biomass content and mortality rate of each singular simulated plant individual and how this responds to climate change, management and rising CO2 concentrations. 5. 5. Interspecifik konkurrens från undervegetation och dess betydelse för densitet : – En fältstudie baserad kring fyra olika konkurrenstyper på ek.

    Kandidat-uppsats, Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för skog och träteknik (SOT)

    Författare :Sara Granholm; [2018]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : This study is based on a field trial at SLU in Alnarp. The idea behind the study was to see how interspecific competition influence density and annual rings on oaks (Quercus robur). The trial started out from four blocks with four different treatments. LÄS MER
