    Sammanfattning : The study examines students’ conception of ensemble class at Arts Program/Music (ES) in upper secondary school in Sweden from a gender perspective, such as sex connected to choice of instrument and claiming space, linked to learning limitations and opportunities. The pop / rock genre dominates music education in Sweden (Skolverket, 2015), like the ensemble groups I have studied, hence perspectives on how gender relates to popular music have been implemented in the study.
