  1. 1. Ecotoxicological effects on the coral endosymbiont Symbiodiniaceae of organic UV-filter chemicals

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Författare :Nanna Walther; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Environmental toxicology; Symbiodiniaceae; miljötoxikologi; phytoplankton; UV-filter chemicals; corals; environmental biology; biology; toxicology; chemicals; sunscreen; pollution; ocean; coral bleaching;

    Sammanfattning : Coral bleaching causes the disappearance of unique ecosystems supporting thousands of different species. The corals health depends on its relationship with its endosymbiont, the zooxanthellate Symbiodiniaceae. This mutualistic relationship can be disrupted by anthropogenic chemical pollution by inducing physiologically stress in Symbiodiniaceae. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Herbivores effect on coral reefs : relationships between sea urchins, coral health and algae cover

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Ecology

    Författare :Linnéa Fridén; [2019]
    Nyckelord :sea urchins; coral health; coral bleaching; algae cover; correlation; influence;

    Sammanfattning : Coral reefs are vital to marine ecology. The population dynamic on coral reefs are complex and sensitive to natural and anthropogenic changes. Various factors can affect the population dynamic and inflict change. Coral bleaching is threatening coral reefs worldwide and is a hot topic in today’s climate challenges. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Are Criminal Sanctions an Appropriate Punishment for Illegal Unregulated and Unreported Fishing in EU? - Sweden as a case study

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Juridiska institutionen

    Författare :Jennie Larsson; [2011]
    Nyckelord :Illegal; Unregulated; Unreported Fishing; Criminal sanctions; Administrative sanctions; Harmonization; Law and Political Science;

    Sammanfattning : Background: A major challenge of today is to protect the marine ecosystem from a total collapse. Overfishing, illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing, climate change in the sea, coral bleaching, ocean acidification, marine pollution impacts of coastal development, exotic and invasive species and last but not least all the cumulative impacts, are just some of the factors degrading our marine environment. 4. 4. Extraterritorial Obligations in a Warming World: An International Human Rights Perspective on Climate Change in Maldives

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Lunds universitet/Juridiska institutionen

    Författare :Robert Tolonen; [2009]
    Nyckelord :Folkrätt; Law and Political Science;

    Sammanfattning : With the scientific evidence for extensive anthropogenic climate change continuously growing stronger, the human dimension of its projected impacts is getting more and more attention. The perhaps clearest example of this is the growing interest in human rights aspects of climate change. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The threat of climate change to coral reefs

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Linn Elmlund; [2009]
    Nyckelord :acidification; bleaching; coral reefs; climate change; geography; physical geography; ecological resilience; conservation; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Korallrev är “den marina världens regnskogar” och de är ett av världens mest artrika och produktiva ekosystem. Korallreven är av stor betydelse för befolkningen i tropiska havsområden. Varmvattenkoraller utsätts idag för storskaliga nedbrytningar och det största hotet mot deras existens anses vara klimatförändringar. LÄS MER
