  1. 1. Electroweak Phase Transition in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/Högenergifysik

    Författare :Alan Aliyali; [2022]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : At least two Cosmological phase transitions are very probable to have happened since the beginning of the universe, one of them being the electroweak phase transition responsible for the breaking of the EW symmetry. It is possible that the EW phase transition could have caused the observed baryon asymmetry of the universe and therefore provide an explanation for the baryon asymmetry problem. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Primordial Gravitational Waves and ultra-light Dark Matter in a complex singlet extended Standard Model

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Författare :Sara Wildenor; [2021]
    Nyckelord :theoretical physics; gravitational waves; dark matter; complex singlet extended standard model; LISA; BBO; DECIGO; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, the consequences of extending the internal symmetries of the standard model with a complex singlet scalar field, are investigated in terms of dark matter phenomenology and the possibility of primordial gravitational wave detection utilizing space based laser interferometry. The scalar potential of the model is constructed with a Z2 symmetry, which allows for the retainment of a linear and a quadratic coupling parameter, as well as a stable dark matter candidate, and an additional non-zero vacuum expectation value for the real component of the scalar field. 3. 3. Searching for signatures of compositeness of the Higgs boson

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Författare :Mårten Bertenstam; [2021]
    Nyckelord :two-Higgs-doublet model; composite Higgs model; composite two-Higgs-doublet model; phase transition; cosmological phase transition; electroweak phase transition; gravitational waves; gravitational wave background; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : In this master thesis we consider some phenomenological aspects of two-Higgs-doublet models, both elementary and composite ones. The emphasis is on calculating and understanding first order phase transitions in such models, constrained to be in agreement with existing collider data on the Higgs sector. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Cosmological implications of a QCD-like composite Higgs model

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Författare :Hristina Georgieva Hristova; [2021]
    Nyckelord :composite Higgs; technicolor; gravitational waves; LISA; phase transition; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : Some of the shortcomings of the Standard Model of particle physics are the 'unnatural' value of the mass of the Higgs boson and the fact that the model cannot account for the process of baryogenesis - a mechanism which generates the observed asymmetry between matter and anti-matter in the Universe. The former is related to the fundamental scalar nature of the Higgs boson, connected to quadratic divergences in the mass corrections. LÄS MER

  5. 5. No sign of a left-handedness in GeV photon arrival directions

    Kandidat-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för astronomi

    Författare :Julia Asplund; [2019]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : A non-zero helicity of cosmological magnetic fields could, if detected, have important implications for models of the electroweak phase transition in the early Universe. It has been suggested that the helicity of such a field could be related to the handedness of photon arrival directions in the diffuse gamma-ray sky observed by the \emph{Fermi} Large Area Telescope (LAT).
