  1. 1. Gravitational Collapse of a Massless Scalar Field in a Theory of Minimally Modified Gravity

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Fysik

    Författare :Atabak Fathe Jalali; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Theoretical physics; astrophysics; modified gravity; minimally modified gravity; gravitational collapse; VCDM; scalar collapse; apparent horizon; numerical relativity; Teoretisk fysik; astrofysik; modifierad gravitation; minimalt modifierad gravitation; gravitationskollaps; VCDM; skalär kollaps; uppenbar horisont; numerisk relativitet;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the spherically symmetric gravitational collapse of a massless scalar field in a minimally modified gravity theory denoted VCDM (V replaces $\Lambda$ in the $\Lambda$CDM abbreviation), a class of theories propagating the same degrees of freedom as general relativity at the expense of broken 4D diffeomorphism invariance. Numerical evolution of the equations of motion reveals that for small initial scalar profile amplitudes, no black hole forms from the collapse. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Dynamic simulation and 3D visualization of a floating tilted counter-rotating vertical axis offshore wind turbine

    Kandidat-uppsats,

    Författare :Lovisa Jonsson; Alexander Hedene; Klara Österling; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Wind turbine; Offshore; VAWT; CRVT; Simulation; Visualization; MATLAB; Dynamics;

    Sammanfattning : The growing global demand for clean energy is critical, and wind power plays a crucial role in addressing this need. The increasing demand is driving advancements in the field of offshore wind power and one promising innovation is the counter-rotating vertical axis turbines (CRVT), specifically designed for floating wind power installations. 3. 3. A Statistical Approach to Understand the Evolution of Exotic Butterfly Species

    Kandidat-uppsats, KTH/Matematisk statistik

    Författare :Elin Eliasson; Rebecka Haraldsson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Phylogenetics; Tree reconstruction; COI barcoding; General Time Reversible Model; K80 Model; Evolution; Butterflies; Fylogenetik; Rekonstruktion av träd; COI barcoding; General Time Reversible modell; K80 modell; Evolution; Fjärilar;

    Sammanfattning : The alarming rate at which we see the decline in biodiversity due to human activity has raised concerns about the well-being of our planet. Butterflies which serve as pollinators are an essential part of many ecosystems and sensitive indicators of environmental changes and can provide valuable insight into how ecosystems function and evolve. 4. 4. Transverse Momentum Spectra in pp collisions (\sqrt{s}\) = 7 TeV and \(\sqrt{s}\) = 13 TeV in ALICE

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik

    Författare :Andreas Stokkeland; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Multiplicity; Multiplicity classes; Soft interactions; Quark Gluon Plasma; QGP; transverse momentum; p_T; Chi-squared; fits; fit functions; Levy; Lévy; Exponential; BGBW; Boltzmann-Gibbs blast-wave; Fermi-Dirac; Bose-Einstein; Boltzmann; pion; kaon; proton; transverse momentum spectra; p_T spectra; surface velocity; Minimum Bias; MB; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : In this project particle production as a function of transverse momentum (\(p_{\rm T}\)) in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy (\(\sqrt{s}\)) of 7 TeV and 13 TeV has been studied. The transverse momentum is interesting to study since it reflects momentum created in the collision (before the collision, all momentum is in the beam - going in a longitudinal direction) and therefore gives information on the collision dynamics. 5. 5. Tools and Challenges in Evaluating Control Surface Airworthiness for a Blended-Wing-Body UAV

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Lättkonstruktioner, marina system, flyg- och rymdteknik, rörelsemekanik

    Författare :Anton Åkesson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : For transport aeroplanes the Blended-Wing-Body (BWB) configuration shows promise in improving aerodynamic efficiency. The Green Raven project strives to demonstrate hydrogen fuel-cell-electric propulsion on a 4 m wingspan BWB. LÄS MER
