11. Performance of dairy cows fed grass-clover silage or biorefined silage pulp of grass-clover silage
Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Animal Environment and HealthSammanfattning : Grass and legumes can do ecosystem services like no other crops and are one of the biggest contributions to protein in dairy cow diets. Biorefining of silage, makes it possible to produce a high-fibre silage pulp (SP) that can be fed to ruminants and a local high-quality protein feed (press juice) for monogastric animals. LÄS MER
12. Extrusion of grass silage and its effect on feed intake, milk production and ingestive behaviour of dairy cows
Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Animal Nutrition and ManagementSammanfattning : Grass and clover ley is the main forage crop in Sweden, however, its restrictive role in feed intake limits the total amount included in the diet of a dairy cow. This study examined the effect of extrusion on grass silage intake, milk production, ingestive behaviour and rumen pH. LÄS MER
14. Ciona (Ciona intestinalis) as a source of fibre for chickens : Effects on productive performance, organs weights and caecal microbiota
Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Animal Nutrition and ManagementSammanfattning : In this experimental study broiler birds were fed in a randomized block design for 32 days on a control diet (C) based on wheat and soy bean meal and two experimental diets containing 2% (C2) and 4% ciona meal (C4) to examine the suitability of Ciona intestinalis in poultry feed as a source of fibre and its effects on growth performance, microbial composition and digestive traits. Luminal content was taken from caeca at day 12 and 32 and analysed for microbiota profile and short chain fatty acids (SCFA). LÄS MER
15. Effects of red and blue LED light on feed intake, feed selection and milk yield in dairy cows
Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Animal Nutrition and ManagementSammanfattning : The aim of this study was to evaluate how red and blue LED light during the daytime affects dry matter intake, feed selection, and milk yield in dairy cows. Ten multipa-rous pregnant Swedish Red cows in post-peak lactation were used. Cows were housed in a tie stall barn. LÄS MER
