1. SOIL GROSS NITROGEN MINERALISATION AND FOREST GROWTH IN FOUR HEMIBOREAL FOREST STANDS IN SOUTHWEST SWEDEN
Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet / Institutionen för biologi och miljövetenskapSammanfattning : Boreal and temperate forests together make up the largest terrestrial net C sink in the world. They take up carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere and store it in plant biomass and soil as they grow, making them crucial in mitigating global climate change. LÄS MER
2. Elemental variability in tree-rings as indicator for climate change : a case study on beech and oak trees at the Laacher See, Germany
Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografiSammanfattning : The aim of this study was to contribute to the comprehension of the connection of element uptake in trees at the Laacher See in Germany and climatic parameters on different time scales. Understanding the relationship of certain elements in trees and temperature might enable the assignment of extraordinary high peaks in the elemental concentration, which cannot be explained by temperature, to another process as CO2 degassing of the mofettes, which are relics of the volcanic past of the lake. 3. Reconstruction of paleoclimate and loess provenance during the last glacial in Jersey using XRF analysis
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : With our changing climate it becomes more vital to understand the processes that control climate change in order to better understand possible future shifts. By doing this, predictions can be made about future climates and better prepare us for them. LÄS MER
4. Towards a high resolution view of infrared line formation
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisationSammanfattning : Observing in the infrared has many benefits, such as seeing through the interstellar dust in the galaxy, easier use of adaptive optics, and better flux ratios for direct observations of exoplanets. Before the infrared spectral range can be utilised for highly accurate stellar spectroscopy there is a need for a better understanding of both stellar modelling and the atomic physics that go into forming spectral lines. 5. Reconstructing Weathering and Climate Trends on Loess Deposits in NW France Using XRF Analysis
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : Analyzing climate changes by loess sediment deposits formed after the last glacial maximum gives us information about how the environment was dynamically before humans physically could record climate changes. Sampling and analyzing loess from different places in the world give us a more reliable view of when events and changes in climate took place. LÄS MER
