  1. 1. Finite element density functional description of linear molecules

    Kandidat-uppsats, Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för fysik och elektroteknik (IFE)

    Författare :Malin Nygren; [2024]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : This report describes a project performed at Linnaeus University with the task of solving the Schrodinger equation for electrons in homonuclear diatomic molecules, using the finite element method in Python. The Schrodinger equation is solved for the hydrogen atom, nitrogen atom, hydrogen molecule and nitrogen molecule using a finite element method. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The Abel-Ruffini Theorem : The insolvability of the general quintic equation by radicals

    Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för matematik och matematisk statistik

    Författare :Axel Sjöblom; [2024]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the topic of Galois theory at a relatively introductory level with the goal of proving the Abel Ruffini theorem. In the first part algebraic structures are considered: groups, ring, fields, etc. Following this, polynomial rings are introduced and the attention is then turned to finite field-extensions. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Implementation of Dyson equation to accelerate convergence in RS-LMTO-ASA code

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Materialteori

    Författare :Elis Uebel; Viktor Frilén; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Density functional theory; Dyson equation;

    Sammanfattning : First-principle calculations is a key ingredient for us to understand, improve and design new materials. Density functional theory (DFT) [1] has proven to be a very powerful tool and a number of different versions exist depending on the problem at hand. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Solving the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in 3-D to model gas flow in a room

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/Avdelningen för beräkningsvetenskap

    Författare :Fredrik Malmström; [2024]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis proposes to model the flow of gases in a room by solving the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in three dimensions. The transportationof scalars such as temperature and concentration of CO2 is modeled by solving the advection-diffusion equation, and the effects of temperature on thevelocity is accounted for by employing the Boussinesq approximation. 5. 5. Moderling Acoustic Transmission in Towed Array Sonars : Computations of the coupled acoustic and elastic wave equations

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Matematik (Avd.)

    Författare :Bill Claesson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a method of solving the Helmholtz equation coupled with the Navier-Cauchy equation over a cross section of a Towed Array Sonar (TAS) modeled as a simplified cylindrical shell. The purpose of solving these equations is to estimate the transfer function of the pressure between the outside boundary and a position inside the TAS. LÄS MER
