1. Evaluating Sugar Signaling during Xylose Oxidation in Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Teknisk mikrobiologiSammanfattning : The sugar signaling state of cells oxidizing xylose was investigated through the chromosomal integration of the Weimberg pathway into previously established biosensor strains capable of monitoring the Snf3p/Rgt2p, SNF1/Mig1p, and cAMP/PKA pathways through the expression of HXT1, SUC2, and TPS1, respectively. Ultimately, two new strains were successfully developed containing both the Weimberg pathway and a biosensor for either HXT1 (TMB CB 112) or TPS1 (TMB CB 117). LÄS MER
3. Application of Apple pomace for Fungal Cultivation
M1-uppsats, Högskolan i Borås/Akademin för textil, teknik och ekonomiSammanfattning : Apple pomace is a solid by-product acquired from pressing and crushing millions of tons of apple in juice-industries. It represents 25-30 % of the original fruit and consists of peels, seeds and pulp. This raw material has multiple applications due to its high carbohydrate and moisture content. LÄS MER
4. Non-alcoholic beer with maltose negative yeast strain Saccharomycodes ludwigii
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)Sammanfattning : Non-alcoholic beer is gaining more attention in the brewing industry due to the negative health and economic consequences of alcohol consumption, even smaller microbreweries are showing interest in the production of non-alcoholic beer. Producing non-alcoholic beer has been restricted to the large breweries due to the special equipment needed and the high investment costs, but by using biological methods the process can be adapted to a traditional brewing setup. 5. From Waste to Bioethanol - A Feasibility Study on Animal Bedding
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Kemiteknik (CI)Sammanfattning : For the year 2020, the European Union has set common goals to aim for regarding the environment. One of them being to reduce the green house gas (GHG) emissions by 20 percent. The world population is increasing, consequently increasing the demand for energy and food. LÄS MER
