Sammanfattning : In this work, we employ a semi-classical approach to light matter interaction to describe and char- acterize spin configurations resulting from quantum correlations between electrons created by a photoemission event and by the following Auger decay. Sammanfattning : Spin-frustrated molecular triangles have four low-lying energy states, so called chiral states, which can be employed as the unit of information, qubit, in a quantum computer. The fact that the chiral states are characterized by two quantum numbers chirality and spin allows the control of the magnetization of the molecule by an electric ﬁeld due to the spin-electric interaction. Sammanfattning : This report presents the general Ising model and its basic assumptions. This study aims to, from diagonalization of the Transfer Matrix, obtain the Helmholtz free energy and the exclusion of a phase transition for the one-dimensional Ising model under an external magnetic field. Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates numerically the out of equilibrium properties of quantum rings with magnetic impurities, using the periodic Anderson model (PAM). The model is a simple template for the discussion of the physics of regular arrays of rare-earth impurities in metallic hosts. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : Recent developments in experimental techniques have made it possible to use magnetic fields to tune interactions between trapped cold atoms with different spin components allowing for detailed experimental investigations of the properties of quantum mechanical few-body systems. In this thesis we investigate the properties of two-component cold atoms trapped in a harmonic oscillator potential with a zero range interaction of arbitrary strength between the different species.
