1. Probing Charm Production with Three-Particle Correlations in pp Collisions
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysikSammanfattning : This thesis aims to investigate possible correlations between charm production and baryon production in proton-proton collisions through three-particle correlations. The question attempted to be answered is where, for a given charmed baryon, the balancing anti-charm particle and balancing anti-baryon are located. LÄS MER
2. Investigation of Ion Extraction Anomalies at TwinEBIS
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionenSammanfattning : The electron beam ion source REXEBIS at CERN-ISOLDE delivers highly-charged ra- dioactive ions for post-acceleration in the HIE-ISOLDE LINAC. Research and develop- ment of components for electron beam ion sources is carried out at the TwinEBIS test stand, currently equipped with a Brillouin electron gun called MEDeGUN. LÄS MER
3. Characterisation of the LYCCA Double-Sided Silicon Strip Detectors
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysikSammanfattning : The goal of this thesis work is to describe the methods used and perform comprehensive testing of the Double-Sided Silicon-Strip Detectors (DSSD) prior to their implementation in the Lund-York-Cologne CAlorimeter (LYCCA) detector. In the framework of this project, the DSSD characterisation was carried out to ensure specification compliance prior to their "in-kind contribution" delivery to the HISPEC experiment at the NUSTAR collaboration. 4. Dead layer determination for the new implantation detector of the LUNDIUM decay station
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionenSammanfattning : The Nuclear Structure Group in Lund, focuses on nuclear spectroscopy of decays of rare isotopes. A new decay station, called LUNDIUM, is currently being built, which will involve silicon and germanium detectors for the study of these nuclei. This thesis focuses on the characterization of one of the new silicon detectors, the implantation one. LÄS MER
5. Digitised charged-particle discrimination in CsI detector signals
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionenSammanfattning : This work is aimed at improving the discrimination of protons and α particles in digitised signals from CsI(Tl) scintillators. This has been achieved using pulse-shape discrimination, wherein the shape of the pulses is used to learn which particle is detected. LÄS MER
