  1. 1. Protein digestibility of biorefined juice from fresh and ensiled ley crops in growing pigs

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Animal Nutrition and Management

    Författare :Jhon William Perez Davila; [2023]
    Nyckelord :protein digestibility; amino acids; ley crops; silage; biorefinery; press juice; growing pigs;

    Sammanfattning : The study aimed to evaluate the protein and amino acid digestibility of press juice from biorefined ley crops in the form of fresh (FPJ) and silage (SPJ) when included as an ingredient in liquid diets for pigs. The juice was extruded from ley crops mixture (grass-clover). LÄS MER

  2. 2. The digesta passage rate among dairy cows with different abilities to consume large quantities of roughage : its impact on the milk production, and the reliability of the chemical fibre marker

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Animal Nutrition and Management

    Författare :Maria Elisabeth Eklund; [2020]
    Nyckelord :chemical markers; chromium; chromium mordanted fibre; cobalt; concen-trate level; EDTA; iNDF; mean re-tention time; ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid; forage consumption; indigestible neutral detergent fibre; liquid digesta phase; MRT; rumen evacuation; sol;

    Sammanfattning : The objectives of the present master thesis were to investigate the passage rate among lactating Holstein and Swedish red dairy cows to investigate the hypotheses of: 1) The cows’ individual total mean retention time (TMRT) has a negative relationship to the cows’ individual forage intake capacity. 2) A reduced TMRT contributes to a reduced feed efficiency, but a higher milk yield. 3. 3. Digestibility of fungi-based protein products fed to broiler chickens

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Animal Nutrition and Management

    Författare :Muhammad Tarshan; [2016]
    Nyckelord :broiler; alternative protein sources; ileal digestibility; fungi; wheat; DDGS;

    Sammanfattning : Two fungal protein sources (X and Y) grown using wheat-DDGS were used in broiler chicken diet to evaluate the apparent ileal digestibility coefficient (AIDC) of crude (CP) and the amino acids (AA) cysteine, lysine, methionine, threonine as well as the apparent digestibility coefficient (ADC) of dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM) and gross energy (GE). Furthermore, the apparent metabolizable energy (AME), digestible CP and digestible AA in the two the fungal biomasses were evaluated. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Molecular characterization of the faecal fungal flora in healthy horses

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Animal Nutrition and Management

    Författare :Ehsan Khajouei; [2013]
    Nyckelord :Anaerobic fungi; Equine; Eukaryotic microorganism; Fungal ITS gene; Gut microbiota; Horse; 18S rRNA gene; Neocallimastigaceae family;

    Sammanfattning : There is a lack of knowledge on the composition and dynamics of the intestinal micro-eukaryotes of horse and to date their functional role for the health and physiology of the host has been described merely to some extent. Particularly, no culture-independent surveys of the dynamics of the intestinal fungal flora in horse are available. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Effect of plant maturity at harvest of haylage on digestibility and faecal particle size in horses fed forage-dominated diets

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Animal Nutrition and Management

    Författare :Emelie Wickström; [2010]
    Nyckelord :plant maturity; haylage; digestibility; faecal particle size in horses; acid-insoluble ash;

    Sammanfattning : Time of harvest affects nutritional value and digestibility of haylage since plants are in different developmental stages. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of plant maturity of haylage cut in June, July and August on digestibility and faecal particle size in horses. LÄS MER
