  1. 1. An exploratory study of Middle Stone Age and Later Stone Age site locations in Kenya’s Central Rift Valley using landscape analysis : a GIS approach

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Angela Kabiru; [2017]
    Nyckelord :geography; geographical information systems; archaeology; Kenya; Central Rift Valley; landscape analysis; Middle Stone Age; Later Stone Age; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The Kenyan central rift has witnessed dramatic climatic changes over relatively short periods of time in response to global climatic changes, with the water levels of the lakes within the rift rising and falling with these changing conditions. There is considerable evidence showing extreme wet and dry phases throughout their existence. LÄS MER

  2. 2. From red to grey and back again : a detailed study of the lower Kundan (Middle Ordovician) 'Täljsten' interval and its enclosing strata in Västergötland, Sweden

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Anders Lindskog; [2010]
    Nyckelord :täljsten; lithology; faunal changes; Lanna Limestone; Holen Limestone; Kinnekulle; Hällekis; Thorsberg; Ordovician; Sweden; lannakalkstenen; holenkalkstenen; mellanordovicium; Sverige; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Lithologic and faunal characteristics of the anomalous lower Kundan (Darriwilian, Middle Ordovician) 'Täljsten' limestone interval and its enclosing strata have been studied at Kinnekulle (Västergötland, south-central Sweden). A 2.6 m thick rock succession has been sampled, resulting in thin-sections and acid-insoluble residues. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Changes in beyrichiid ostracode faunas during the Late Silurian Lau Event on Gotland, Sweden

    Magister-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Rebecka Rääf; [2010]
    Nyckelord :Gotland; Late Silurian; Lau Event; ostracodes; Beyrichiidae; faunal turnovers; Sensilur; Laukatastrofen; ostrakoder; beyrichiider; faunaförändringar; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : This paper deals with how palaeocope ostracodes of the family Beyrichiidae, from the Silurian strata at Gotland were affected by the Late Silurian Lau Event. The Lau Event is associated with a positive carbon isotope excursion, lithology changes and faunal changes in accumulated strata related to sea-level changes and a glaciation in the Late Ludlow. 4. 4. Climate archives and the Late Ordovician Boda Event

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Håkan Olsson; [2009]
    Nyckelord :Climate; Boda Event; Late Ordovician; Siljan district; Carbonate mud-mounds; klimat; Siljanområdet; sen-ordovicium; rev; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Climate change has become an increasingly important subject in geological research as past climates can teach us about the global climate systems. This thesis is a literature study on natural climate archives with examples from the Late Ordovician Boda Event. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Brachiopod faunal dynamics during the Silurian Ireviken Event, Gotland, Sweden

    Magister-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Åsa Erlfeldt; [2006]
    Nyckelord :Ireviken Event; brachiopods; Lilliput; Silurian; Gotland; Lower Visby Formation; Upper Visby Formation; brachiopoder; Silur; Undre Visbyformationen; Övre Visbyformationen; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The brachiopod fauna from parts of the Lower and Upper Visby formations on Gotland has been investigated through a combined outcrop and literature study. The strata of these formations were formed during the Ireviken Event, one of the severest identified oceanic events on Gotland, with diversity changes and extinctions among several groups of marine taxa.
