1. Habitat use and activity patterns of three Eulemur species in the forest and restoration areas of Ranomafana and Ankafobe, Madagascar
Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental StudiesSammanfattning : Anthropogenic deforestation is a major threat to forest environments, as it leads to habitat loss and fragmentation. Many species suffer from these consequences due to reduced resource availability or connectivity. Forests in Madagascar have drastically been reduced in the past few centuries. LÄS MER
2. F.I.R.E.S.A.F.E : Automatic fire extinguisher using thermal imaging
Kandidat-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)Sammanfattning : The purpose of this bachelor’s thesis was to create a functioning turret that can recognize heat sources and automatically shoot water at them using a thermal camera and water pump. The main areas to research was the cameras capability regarding fire detection and also the turret’s efficacy in putting out fires using this detection. LÄS MER
4. Reconstruction of Fire Spread with a Markov Random Field Mixture Model
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Matematisk statistikSammanfattning : This thesis revolves around reconstructing fire sizes for historical fires in Jämtgaveln, Sweden based on data of fire scars in trees. We propose a Hidden Markov Model (HMM), where the domain is divided into quadratic grid cells of 250 $\times$ 250 m and with these grid cells we associate a binary Markov random field taking values 0 or 1 corresponding to no fire and fire respectively. 5. Molns inverkan på satellitdetektion av vegetationsbränder i Sverige
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapsläraSammanfattning : Results are presented from the 2021 test run of active fire detection using the Visual Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) instrument, that is currently onboard the polar satellites Suomi-NPP and NOAA-20. The test is performed by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency and the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute, in cooperation with local fire departments in Sweden. LÄS MER
