1. Modeling for characterization of continuous casting simulator using CFD
Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskap och matematikSammanfattning : In order to improve the continuous casting process of steel, it’s important to have an understanding of the fuid mechanics of the casting process. As experiments on a real caster are usually impractical, both physical and numerical modeling are important for creating this understanding. LÄS MER
2. Carbon dioxide-based pump system for portable HPLC equipment
Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/MikrosystemteknikSammanfattning : To make chemical analysis available both practically and economically, one approach is to miniaturise the equipment needed for the analysis. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is an example of a flow chemistry analysis system where active work is performed to achieve miniaturised systems. LÄS MER
3. Pushing the boundaries of acoustic particle separation: achieving high-throughput, avoiding spillover effects, investigating the effects of the particle concentration, and measuring acoustic properties
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknikSammanfattning : Acoustophoresis, i.e., the contactless manipulation of small cells or particles via acoustic waves is a gentle and label-free method that can, amongst others, be used to isolate rare cells such as circulating tumor cells from blood. To isolate enough cells, a large amount of sample needs to be processed in a reasonable amount of time. LÄS MER
4. Rheology of dense particle suspensions in linear over-damped flow
Master-uppsats, KTH/Strömningsmekanik och Teknisk AkustikSammanfattning : Suspensions are composed of mixtures of particles and fluid and are omnipresent in natural phenomena and in industrial processes. While hydrodynamic interactions or lubrication forces between the particles are important in the dilute regime, they become of lesser significance when the concentration is increased, and direct particle contacts become dominant in the rheological response of concentrated suspensions, particularly those close to the maximum volume fraction where the suspension ceases to flow. 5. Understanding Rt using two-particle correlations by simulating proton-proton collisions in a Monte-Carlo model
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionenSammanfattning : The observable Rt is investigated in the Monte Carlo Model Pythia in order to better understand results from experimental data obtained in the ALICE detector at CERN. The purpose is to reproduce the experiment in a simulation and use the features proposed by Pythia to dig into the unexpected outcomes. LÄS MER
