1. Modelling the Water Table in a Bog
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskapSammanfattning : Over the past five years, an ongoing study at INES, Lund University, have examined the encroachment of trees and vegetation into a bog ecosystem in northern Scania, Sweden. While several factors have been identified as contributing to this ecological transformation, including, nutrient availability, and climate, the hydrological aspect remains a key area of investigation. 2. Deskriptiv studie av vertikal acceleration vid löpning på olika underlag
Kandidat-uppsats, Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan, GIH/Institutionen för fysiologi, nutrition och biomekanikSammanfattning : Title: Descriptive study of vertical acceleration when running on different ground surfaces Aim The purpose of the study was to map the vertical upward acceleration when running on different ground surfaces in different running velocities and also to investigate if there is any differences in vertical upward acceleration between different ground surfaces and different running velocities. Method Ten test subjects ran on four common orienteering ground surfaces (wet bog, flat forest, gravel and cutting area) in three subjective running velocities (jogging, competition speed and maximum speed). 3. Influence of forest mires on wildfire : a landscape analysis of the 2014 Västmanland forest fire
Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and ManagementSammanfattning : Forest fire is a major natural disturbance that influence forest ecosystem structure and composition at both the stand and landscape level. In boreal Fennoscandia fire frequency has been very low over the last c.150 years due to effective fire suppression, although occasionally high-intensity fires escape initial attack and grow big. 4. Drivers of decomposition across Sphagnum bog margins
Master-uppsats, Karlstads universitet/Institutionen för miljö- och livsvetenskaper (from 2013)Sammanfattning : Peatlands provide multiple ecosystem services, including extensive carbon sequestration and storage, yet many peatlands have been degraded or destroyed. Peatlands carbon storage capacity is connected to inherently low decomposition rates, causing the build-up of organic matter. LÄS MER
5. Post-fire community changes in peatland dwelling beetles : A before-after-control impact study of beetle communities in Swedish mires after a megafire
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildningSammanfattning : As a consequence to climate change and resulting severe weather events such as prolonged hot and dry periods, wildfire frequency increases globally. Progressively, these effects are noticeable in high latitude countries such as Sweden where a megafire burned 13 100 ha of managed coniferous forest in 2014. LÄS MER
