  1. 1. How brownification and eutrophication effects a drinking water source – with Lake Bolmen, Sweden, in focus

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Miljövetenskaplig utbildning; Lunds universitet/Centrum för miljö- och klimatvetenskap (CEC)

    Författare :Stina Stomberg; [2022]
    Nyckelord :brownification; eutrophication effects; drinking water; phytoplankton; Lake Bolmen; mesocosm; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The ongoing human impact in form of deforestation, urbanization and intense agriculture is affecting the natural hydrology and our freshwater lakes negatively. Both eutrophication and brownification has seen to increase with the ongoing environmental change which can potentially have large impact on our freshwater ecosystems. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Kiselalgers anpassning till ljus : en jämförelse mellan Brachysira neoexilis och Eunotia incisa

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment

    Författare :Ylva Friheden; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Kiselalger; Bacillariophyceae; tillväxtsexperiment; ljusintensitet;

    Sammanfattning : Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka ljuspreferenserna hos kiselalgerna Brachysira neoexilis (BNEO) och Eunotia incisa (EINC), alltså vid vilka ljusintervall de har störst tillväxt. I samband med vattenkvalitetsundersökningar så skulle kunskapen om hur ljus påverkar kiselalgernas tillväxt minska den osäkerhet som finns kring hur andra påverkansfaktorer, förutom näring och organiska ämnen faktiskt kan påverka vattenkvalitetsindex. 3. 3. Diatom distribution in the lower Save river, Mozambique : Taxonomy, salinity gradient and taphonomy

    Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi

    Författare :Marie Christiansson; [2016]
    Nyckelord :Diatoms; Quaternary geology; micropaleontology; taphonomy; taxonomy; siliceous microfossils;

    Sammanfattning : In this study diatom distribution within the lower Save River, Mozambique, has been identified from surface sediments, surface water, mangrove cortex and buried sediments. Sandy units, bracketing a geographically extensive clay layer, have been dated with optical stimulated luminescence (OSL). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Zinc tolerance of freshwater diatoms isolated from sites with zinc pollution; and pH effect on zinc toxicity

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment

    Författare :Amanda Hedenborg; [2016]
    Nyckelord :freshwater diatoms; indicator for metal pollution; zinc pollution; pH; malformations;

    Sammanfattning : The aim with this study was to observe the zinc (Zn), tolerance for different strains isolated from sites with Zn pollution and to observe if lower pH decreases the Zn toxicity. Another aim was to see if malformations could be an indicator for Zn pollution. Zn is found naturally in the bedrock, sediment and waterbodies. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Freshwater pearl mussel as indicators of Swedish streams - a comparison between freshwater pearl mussel and biological quality elements

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment

    Författare :Kristin Forsell; [2014]
    Nyckelord :flodpärlmussla; biologiska kvalitetsfaktorer; freshwater pearl mussel; biological quality elements;

    Sammanfattning : The freshwater pearl mussel (Margaritifera margaritifera) is a large freshwater mussel. Because of its sensitivity to human impact, such as eutrophication, acidification and alterations of hydromorphology, the species is considered as a robust indicator of stream water quality and biodiversity.
