The late rise of the Sweden Democrats, long considered an exception to the rule, as a successful radical right party, has attracted some academic interest and various explanations on what may have caused this sudden success. The spreading of the COVID-19 pandemic, however, magnified those inequalities that the Plan is supposed to challenge by showing not only their ubiquity but the mechanisms through which they can be exacerbated in crises situations.
