  1. 1. Feasibility of reintroduction of European Bison (Bison bonasus) to Sweden with focus on traffic accidents

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Southern Swedish Forest Research Centre

    Författare :Michael Topszewski; [2023]
    Nyckelord :wildlife-vehicle collision; risk prediction; reintroduction feasibility; european bison; Bison bonasus; moose; Alces alces; Human-wildlife conflict;

    Sammanfattning : The historical occurrence of European bison (Bison bonasus) in Sweden during the early Holocene emphasizes the ecological significance for a potential reintroduction. The European bison, the largest herbivore on the European continent, is a keystone species with a significant influence on ecosystem dynamics. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Effect of Touch on Cotton and Maize : influence on plant morphology and feeding preference in Spodoptera littoralis

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Plant Protection Biology

    Författare :Anna Magnusson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Mechanical stimuli; cotton; maize; thigmomorphogenesis; Spodoptera littoralis; induced defence; plant-plant interaction;

    Sammanfattning : Plants are constantly exposed to touch and mechanical stimuli in natural environments, from rain, wind, animals and plant neighbours. However, current knowledge and understanding of how touch physiologically affects plants are limited. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Are tritrophic interactions shaped by plant genotype? A field experiment.

    Kandidat-uppsats, Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :Ylva Nordström; [2013]
    Nyckelord :Tritrophic interactions; plant genotype; aggregative behaviour; Galerucella tenella; Asecodes parviclava;

    Sammanfattning : In recent years it has become apparent that when studying plant-herbivore interactions, it is important to also consider the multitrophic context, i.e. to what extent generalist and specialist enemies act as bodyguards for the plant. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Effect of Bacillus mediated priming on different natural genetic variants of Arabidopsis thaliana

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Plant Biology and Forest Genetics (until 131231)

    Författare :Staffan Matzén; [2012]
    Nyckelord :priming of defense; generalist herbivore; Spodoptera littoralis; Arabidopsis thaliana; glucosinolate; feeding experiment; pest management;

    Sammanfattning : In two feeding experiments Bacillus induced priming of plant defense was tested for its effect against the generalist insect pest Spodoptera littoralis. The main hypothesis for the study was that Bacillus induced priming would enable the plant Arabidopsis thaliana to defend itself better against this insect herbivore since this priming seems to involve jasmonic acid, known to be important for plant defense to insects.
