  1. 1. Analysis of relatedness and genetic diversity in Swedish sheep breeds using medium density (50K) SNP data

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Animal Breeding and Genetics

    Författare :Krishani Devika Wijesinghe Sinhalage; [2023]
    Nyckelord :sheep; genetic diversity; population structure; inbreeding; runs of homozygosity; coat colour; MC1R;

    Sammanfattning : The local Swedish sheep breeds belong to a group of sheep breeds known as North European short-tailed sheep breeds. Evaluation of genetic diversity, relatedness, and population structure of local breeds offers crucial metrics to prevent inbreeding depression, genetic erosion, and crossbreeding between locally adapted and exotic sheep breeds since these occurrences can have detrimental effects and ultimately lead to extinction. 2. 2. A recipe for fish and SNPs : Filling the blanks for conservation genomics of Swedish wels catfish (Silurus glanis) populations

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för ekologi och genetik; Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Författare :Lars Littmann; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Catfish; Silurus glanis; Genomics; Genetics; Conservation; Mitochondrial; Whole-genome; NGS; Sweden;

    Sammanfattning : Swedish populations of Wels catfish (Silurus glanis) experienced severe declines during the 19th and 20th centuries. The main causes for the decline were loss of suitable spawning habitat and fragmentation of populations. Currently, three native and two reintroduced populations remain in Sweden. LÄS MER

  3. 3. A population genomic approach to investigate potential island effects in the cryptic wood white butterfly (Leptidea juvernica) : Do island populations have lower genetic diversity and less efficient selection than mainland populations?

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Författare :Xuejing Hu; [2022]
    Nyckelord :island effect;

    Sammanfattning : Due to limited geographic ranges, island populations, in general, are expected to have smaller population sizes and a limited influx of migrants compared to populations inhabiting continental mainlands. Therefore, island populations are expected to be influenced by genetic drift and natural selection differently from mainland populations. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Energy Landscapes for Early T Cell Development

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Beräkningsbiologi och biologisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Författare :Yukun Cheng; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : T cell lineage development from an early thymic progenitor involves programmed shutoff of progenitor gene expression, upregulation of T cell specification genes, and proliferation. This biological system has been deeply studied and a gene regulatory network (GRN) that can accurately describe the system has been presented. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Actin filaments as an indicator of impaired neuronal differentiation mediated by disruption of the retinoic acid signalling pathway

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Författare :Hanin Salloum; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Retinoic acid; actin; cytoskeleton; neural progenitor C17.2 cells; neuron; Coronin 1C; Cdc42 Cdc42 effector protein 4 gene ; Fn1 Fibronectin ; Wnt pathway.;

    Sammanfattning : Retinoic acid (RA) is a well-known neurodevelopmental signaling molecule. It is reported to induce effects on neurite formation in differentiating neurons and to interfere with the actin cytoskeleton. Therefore, this project aimed to investigate the mechanisms behind effects of RA on the actin cytoskeleton of developing neurons using the C17. LÄS MER
