    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för kemi, bioteknologi och hälsa (CBH)

    Författare :Ellinor Lindholm; [2018]
    Nyckelord :glycoconjugates; glycolipids; integral membrane proteins; gangliosides; glucosylceramide synthase; dolicholphosphate mannose synthase; cancer; neuroblastoma; congenital disorders of glycosylation; glykokonjukat; glykolipider; membranprotein; gangliosider; glukosylceramidsyntas; dolicholfosfat mannossyntas; cancer; neuroblastom; medfdd glykosyleringssjukdom;

    Sammanfattning : Glycolipids play important roles in the biology of prokaryotes and eukaryotes, including humans, and although theyare found on the cell-membrane surface of all eukaryotic cells, not much is known about their biosynthesis. The aim ofthis project was to characterize two enzymes: glucosylceramide synthase (GCS) which is involved in the biosynthesisof glycolipids such as gangliosides that are abundant in the membranes of nerve cells; and dolicholphosphate mannosesynthase (DPMS), involved in the synthesis precursor for protein glycosylation. 2. 2. Treatment of a mantle cell lymphoma cell line with cannabinoids and cytostatics : - effects on DNA synthesis and ceramide metabolism

    Master-uppsats, Akademin för hållbar samhälls- och teknikutveckling; Institutionen för biologi och kemiteknik

    Författare :Ablahad Chabo; [2009]
    Nyckelord :cancer; mantle cell lymphoma; cannabinoids; cytostatics; ceramide;

    Sammanfattning : Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is an aggressive B-cell malignancy with bad prognosis, which predominates in males with advanced age. However, studies of the endocannabinoid system and how it affects tumour behaviour provides the basis for designing innovative therapeutic strategies that could open new opportunities for treatment of patient with MCL.
