  1. 1. Wild boar and roe deer in conflict? : an analysis of interspecific interactions under different wild boar densities

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Ecology

    Författare :Nina Eileen Long; [2023]
    Nyckelord :feeding displacement; generalized additive models; interference competition; wild boar; roe deer;

    Sammanfattning : Roe deer and wild boar are both highly successful species of cervid found across much of Europe, and while similarities exist between them, to what extent do wild boar impact the daily activity pattern of roe deer at feeding sites? While a few studies explore interspecific interactions between ungulate species in Sweden, only a little research has been done on how wild boar and roe deer interact. This study aims to minimize the gap in knowledge surrounding these two species and the way they interact. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Wild boar feeding site effects on targeted and non-targeted species

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Ecology

    Författare :Emma Engvall; [2022]
    Nyckelord :artificial feeding; baiting; establishment; rooting; diversity; species richness;

    Sammanfattning : Wild boar (Sus scrofa) is an ungulate species that is increasing in Europe and Sweden, and with that causing conflicts and problems in agriculture. Wild boar are omnivores and are often rooting in the ground to find food items. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Evaluating effects of preventive actions to reduce wild boar damage in the agricultural landscape

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies

    Författare :Matilda Söderqvist; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Sus scrofa; wild boar; wildlife damage; agricultural damage; crop damage; preventive actions; fencing; protective hunting; directed feeding;

    Sammanfattning : The population of wild boar (Sus scrofa) is increasing dramatically in Sweden and all over Europe and cause an extensive amount of damage in agricultural landscapes. The economic losses for farmers due to damages are leading to intense conflicts between different stakeholders, particularly hunters and farmers. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Factors affecting timing of seasonal migration by roe deer (Capreolus capreolus)

    Magister-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Ecology

    Författare :Linda Höglund; [2018]
    Nyckelord :roe deer; Capreolus capreolus; seasonal migration; home range; NDVI;

    Sammanfattning : Roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) live in diverse environmental conditions due to their wide distribution. Because of their high variety of living conditions it is common that some individuals in a population have different summer and winter areas. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Have wolves (Canis lupus) finally scared moose (Alces alces) in Sweden?

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Ecology

    Författare :Mark Jamieson; [2018]
    Nyckelord :landscapes of fear; predator-prey interactions; habitat selection; resource selection functions; ecology;

    Sammanfattning : Carnivores are coming back to Europe and the repercussions of their return on prey species is not fully understood. Research from North American studies suggests predators can indirectly affect how ungulates will select their habitat which can result in a change in vegetation growth as browsing pressure is relaxed in risky areas.
