  1. 1. Do OTC warming effects on ecosystem processes depend on moss species identity, precipitation, and moss removal?

    Master-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :Alexina Brännlund; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Experimental warming; Subarctic tundra mosses; Productivity; Ecosystem respiration; Decomposition;

    Sammanfattning : Long-term warming experiments in arctic tundra have resulted in reduced moss cover and increased vascular plant cover. As mosses have a major impact on microclimatic conditions, changes in community composition can potentially alter direct and indirect drivers of productivity and decomposition, which are low in arctic ecosystems. 2. 2. Association between technological properties of bovine milk, cold induced depletion and genetic variants of β- and κ-casein

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Department of Molecular Sciences

    Författare :Simon Tobias Höxter; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Milk proteins; casein micelle; β-casein depletion; micelle size; milk coagulation properties Swedish;

    Sammanfattning : Caseins (CN) represent about 80% of the total protein in bovine milk and are of major importance in dairy production. The four casein types, i.e., αs1-, β-, αs2-, and κ-casein are in turn divided into different genetic variants. LÄS MER

  3. 3. A comparative study of innovation rennets from Swedish ruminants: calves, kids, and lambs

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Department of Molecular Sciences

    Författare :Dena Marie Bengtsson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Ruminant milk; Swedish bovine rennet; Swedish kid rennet; Swedish lamb rennet; Artisanal cheese production; Rheological properties; Curd yield; Gel firmness; Innovation; Milk coagulation time;

    Sammanfattning : The study aimed to examine Swedish innovation rennets (lamb and kid) and bovine rennets (pepsin and chymosin) in combination with species-specific milk from goat, sheep, and cow. This was accomplished by evaluating the gross composition, casein and whey protein content, casein number of the milk types, as well as rheological properties, such as curd yield, coagulation time, and gel firmness. 4. 4. Characterization of bovine milk from indigenous species from Sri Lanka

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Department of Molecular Sciences

    Författare :Jonathan Skager; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Milk; total proteolysis; protein profile; capillary electrophoresis; fluorescence; indigenous cattle; Jersey cattle; Friesian cattle; Sri Lanka;

    Sammanfattning : Sri Lanka is a country in south Asia that from the beginning of the 21st century, until 2016 almost doubled their quantity in milk import, this to meet their national market demand for dairy products. The country is divided into different agroecological zones, which are the up-country, mid-country, and the lowlands. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Quality parameters and protein profile in raw milk from individual cows with different lactation number and breed

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Department of Molecular Sciences

    Författare :Jennifer Hallqvist; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Raw milk quality; protein profile; actation number; Swedish Red; Swedish Holstein;

    Sammanfattning : Swedish dairy cows have an average life expectancy of 5 years, which means that each cow undergoes about 2.5 lactation cycles through her life. Reasons for culling dairy cows are mainly impaired fertility, udder health (mastitis) and low milk yield. LÄS MER
