    Sammanfattning : The objectives of the present master thesis were to investigate the passage rate among lactating Holstein and Swedish red dairy cows to investigate the hypotheses of: 1) The cows’ individual total mean retention time (TMRT) has a negative relationship to the cows’ individual forage intake capacity. 2) A reduced TMRT contributes to a reduced feed efficiency, but a higher milk yield.     Sammanfattning : The aim of the study was to compare two feeding strategies, partial mixed ration (PMR) and separate feeding (SR) of grass/clover silage and concentrate, and find out how feed intake, milking frequency and milk production was affected when the cows were milked in an automatic milking system (AMS) with free cow traffic. The study included 38 cows in early to mid lactation divided into two groups fed PMR or SR and lasted for ten weeks. LÄS MER
