    Sammanfattning : The phenomenological success of the Standard Model (SM), and its unification of the electromagnetic and weak forces has inspired the search for a Grand Unified Theory (GUT), that dynamically reduces to the SM at low energies. In this work, we consider one such GUT, based on the trinification model [SU(3)]³ with an additional local SU(2) family symmetry, that is then broken directly to the gauge symmetry group of the SM.     Sammanfattning : Throughout this work we investigate a trinification-based grand unification theory (GUT) with a global family symmetry, as a radiative origin of the Standard Model (SM). We show that after spontaneous symmetry breaking of the trinification gauge group, we can in theory construct an effective left-right symmetric model (LRSM) which breaks to the SM gauge group through radiative breaking induced by the running of the model’s parameters.
