6. Claws and Effect : how Small Carnivore Richness Responds to Habitat Diversity and Ecological Productivity
Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental StudiesSammanfattning : Species distribution and composition research has gained significance in light of global warming and its impact on biodiversity. Understanding the factors shaping species richness is crucial for wildlife ecology and conservation. LÄS MER
7. Carabidocoenoses and Fragments of Forests : exploring the Carabid Landscape
Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and ManagementSammanfattning : Epigeic ground beetles (Coleoptera: Carabidae) were sampled between 2021-06-28 and 2021-07-09 using pitfall traps in the Swedish counties Värmland and Gävleborg. The structural properties of the landscapes surrounding these points were estimated from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency’s national land cover databases and the Swedish Forest Agency’s data for all formally protected and high conservation value forests using patch-based configurational metrics. 8. Prospects for Wind Energy Development in Consideration of a Cumulative Appraisal of Botanical, Faunal, Societal, and Cultural Values in Swedish Boreal Forests
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : Renewable energy development is breaking global records each year. European and national Swedish legislation target substantial portions of wind energy production by 2040. Sweden has ambitious objectives for wind energy, with plans to nearly triple its wind energy proportion in the next 17 years. LÄS MER
9. Lavar i skogsöar i en fragmenterad skogsmiljö
Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskapSammanfattning : Epiphytic lichens are important species in the forest ecosystem. The Swedish forestry model affects them by fragmenting large old continuous forests. These fragments could be used as islands in a test of MacArthur and Wilsons theory of island biogeography. LÄS MER
10. Hänglavsförekomst i olika kantzoner : En studie i skogarna kring Fällfors, Skellefteå kommun
Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskapSammanfattning : Epiphytic lichens require an even climate (no major changes in temperature and humidity) and continuity in the forest to thrive and grow, but forestry and its clear cutting destroys these habitats. The consequences are particularly serious when it occurs in forests with a high degree of management continuity. LÄS MER
