  1. 6. SUSTAINABILITY OF MULTI-STORY WOOD BUILDINGS : Can the Swedish forestry keep up with the demand?

    Kandidat-uppsats, Malmö universitet/Institutionen för Urbana Studier (US)

    Författare :Celine Kozak; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Sustainability; green washing; multi-storey wood buildings; clay; climate change; forest; sweden; case study; life cycle; architecture; Hållbarhet; Green washing; trähus; lera; klimat; skog; sverige; flervåningshus; fallstudie; livscykel; arkitektur;

    Sammanfattning :   Wood has been traditionally used as a construction material in Nordic countries such as Sweden dating back to the 12th century. Using wood as a building material for the construction of buildings with more than two stories became the norm around the 1850s and has only increased with the pressing need for more sustainable and environmentally friendly alternatives to materials such as concrete. 2. 7. Tribology of Polymer Composite with Low Load Application for Automotive Industries

    Master-uppsats, Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskap och matematik

    Författare :Martin Asuquo; [2022]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : In recent times, there has been an increased interest in replacing conventional metals and synthetic fiber composites in various automobile parts with natural fiber polymer composites. These natural fiber composites offer benefits over conventional materials in terms of reduction in weight, lower cost, comparable high specific properties such as specific stiffness and strength, low abrasion property, and availability of these materials. 3. 8. Biochar and hemp as peat substitutes in organic growing media : effects on nutrient availability and nutrient uptake

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Biosystems and Technology (from 130101)

    Författare :Malin Nilsson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Growing media; substrate; biochar; hemp; peat substitution; nutrient availability; nutrient use efficiency;

    Sammanfattning : This study aimed at evaluating the suitability of biochar and hemp as partial or complete replacement of peat in horticultural growing media, with specific emphasis on the effects on nutrient availability and plant nutrient uptake. The study was motivated by the environmental concerns surrounding the use of peat, along with a desire to explore possible uses for biochar and a crop residue from hemp cultivation. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Byggnadsmaterials klimatpåverkan med avseende på koldioxidutsläpp : under materialproduktion och byggnadens energianvändning, fallstudie av Kungsängstorg

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på grundnivå, Uppsala universitet/Byggteknik och byggd miljö

    Författare :Gabriel Aslan; Saga Järvinen Strand; [2022]
    Nyckelord :IDA ICE; LCA; EPD; material; sandwichpanel; KL-trä; stenull; glasull; hampafiber; klimatpåverkan; hallbyggnad; energianvändning;

    Sammanfattning : The largest contributor to global warming from the construction and real estate sector comes from the emission of greenhouse gases during the production and usage phases of buildings. During production the leading contributor accounting for emissions is material production while the largest impact in the usage phase is due to energy used for heating, where the largest heat losses occur through building envelopes. 5. 10. Biochar and Hemp as Peat Substituents in Horticultural Substrates and Their Effects on Presence of Microbiota

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Biosystems and Technology (from 130101)

    Författare :Louise Hagbard; [2022]
    Nyckelord :biochar; hemp; Cannabis sativa; peat reduction; peat; microbiome; fibers; substrate; growing media; Trichoderma; Pseudomonas; Lactuca sativa;

    Sammanfattning : The extraction of peat has been shown to have a detrimental impact on the environment in several ways, including through emissions of greenhouse gases but also through a negative impact on fragile habitats, ecosystems, and ecosystem services. The horticultural sector is a major user of peat products and thus contributes to both emissions and habitat changes. LÄS MER
