1. Gravitational Collapse of a Massless Scalar Field in a Theory of Minimally Modified Gravity
Master-uppsats, KTH/FysikSammanfattning : This thesis explores the spherically symmetric gravitational collapse of a massless scalar field in a minimally modified gravity theory denoted VCDM (V replaces $\Lambda$ in the $\Lambda$CDM abbreviation), a class of theories propagating the same degrees of freedom as general relativity at the expense of broken 4D diffeomorphism invariance. Numerical evolution of the equations of motion reveals that for small initial scalar profile amplitudes, no black hole forms from the collapse. LÄS MER
2. Predicting Electricity Consumption with ARIMA and Recurrent Neural Networks
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Statistiska institutionenSammanfattning : Due to the growing share of renewable energy in countries' power systems, the need for precise forecasting of electricity consumption will increase. This paper considers two different approaches to time series forecasting, autoregressive moving average (ARMA) models and recurrent neural networks (RNNs). LÄS MER
3. The Liberalist Tightrope : Balancing Pluralism and Meaningful Action in International Relations, a study on Judith Shklar’s Liberalism of Fear
Master-uppsats, FörsvarshögskolanSammanfattning : Judith Shklar’s liberalism of fear, while characterized by deep skepticism and dissatisfaction with utilitarian theories on liberalism, is also filled with hope and a tireless dedication to the victims of our political worlds. This thesis in international political theory explores Judith Shklar’s underappreciated international political thought. LÄS MER
4. Systematics and the evolution of flower symmetry of Posoqueria (Rubiaceae)
Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet / Institutionen för biologi och miljövetenskapSammanfattning : The genus Posoqueria is a Neotropical group of shrubs and trees in the coffee family Rubiaceae. Posoqueria is phylogenetically poorly understood and presents several internal taxonomical difficulties. LÄS MER
5. Education, Employability and Imagining the Future: A Minor Field Study of Goals and Motivations in a South African Small-Scale Development Programme
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/SociologiSammanfattning : South Africa is one of the most unequal countries in the world, and that shows in the distribution of opportunities amongst South Africans. In the face of political failures to deliver improvements for unemployed youth NGO projects become more important avenues for young people to acquire resources needed to improve their lives. LÄS MER
