1. Rheology of dense particle suspensions in linear over-damped flow
Master-uppsats, KTH/Strömningsmekanik och Teknisk AkustikSammanfattning : Suspensions are composed of mixtures of particles and fluid and are omnipresent in natural phenomena and in industrial processes. While hydrodynamic interactions or lubrication forces between the particles are important in the dilute regime, they become of lesser significance when the concentration is increased, and direct particle contacts become dominant in the rheological response of concentrated suspensions, particularly those close to the maximum volume fraction where the suspension ceases to flow. 2. SUSTAINABLE LUBRICATION FOR FUTURE TRANSMISSIONS : Micropitting performance of Glycerol-based lubricants
Master-uppsats, Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskap och matematikSammanfattning : Achieving sustainable lubrication by using environmentally friendly formulated lubricants has became an essential component of the transition process from fossil-powered vehicles to electrified transportation. Mixtures, or aqueous solutions of molecules such as polyhydroxy alcohols, and glycols usually known as green lubricants make it possible to achieve low friction coefficients under different lubrication conditions, which constitutes a potential alternative to improve the tribological performance of moving parts in automotive systems, at the same time that the environmental requirements are satisfied. 3. Sliding bearings in heavy duty engines : A bearing wear comparative study
Master-uppsats, KTH/Maskinkonstruktion (Inst.)Sammanfattning : Start-stop systems are widely used in the car industry today but have not yet been fully implemented in the heavy-duty vehicle industry. The greater loads arising in the engines leads to excessive wear of the hydrodynamic bearings during starts and stops which has a distinct impact on the machine´s lifetime performance and reliability. 4. New materials in sliding bearings
Master-uppsats, KTH/Maskinkonstruktion (Inst.)Sammanfattning : Increasing demands for lower emissions from heavy trucks and buses creates new demands on the components in the engine. One such component is the journal bearing which is used at many positions in the engine. Implementing a start-stop system in a truck engine leads to that the crankshaft journal bearing gets worn out too quickly. LÄS MER
5. Realisation and evaluation of a start-stop journal bearing test-rig
Master-uppsats, KTH/Maskinkonstruktion (Inst.)Sammanfattning : While there has been substantial body of work in the field of journal bearing research, much of it is today theoretical or simulated due to today’s computing power. Scania produces experimental data from motor testing, but these are expensive and time consuming. LÄS MER
