1. Cultivation of Yarrowia lipolytica on a hydrolysate based on food waste
Master-uppsats, SLU/Department of Molecular SciencesSammanfattning : Interest in replacing fish oil and fish meal as fish feed ingredients with more socially, environmen-tally, and economically sustainable alternatives has increased in recent years. One such alternative could be the use of yeast biomass. LÄS MER
2. Can Saccharomycopsis vini and Z4-11Al be used in a push-pull system against the invasive pest Drosophila suzukii?
Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Biosystems and Technology (from 130101)Sammanfattning : Drosophila suzukii is a pest with global spread that lays its eggs in soft fruits. It has been deemed potentially invasive to Sweden. Contrary to other Drosophila species, D. suzukii possess a serrated ovipositor which makes it possible for it to lay its eggs in ripening fruits. 3. Methods for production of recombinant enzymes for collagen degradation
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Tillämpad biokemi; Lunds universitet/BeräkningskemiSammanfattning : In this thesis eight enzymes have been identified with documented ability to degrade collagen or its hydrolyzed products. Collagen can be found in skin, bones, and connective tissue. Hydrolyzed collagen peptides are utilized in food, disease treatment, skincare and training supplements. LÄS MER
4. Evaluating Sugar Signaling during Xylose Oxidation in Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Teknisk mikrobiologiSammanfattning : The sugar signaling state of cells oxidizing xylose was investigated through the chromosomal integration of the Weimberg pathway into previously established biosensor strains capable of monitoring the Snf3p/Rgt2p, SNF1/Mig1p, and cAMP/PKA pathways through the expression of HXT1, SUC2, and TPS1, respectively. Ultimately, two new strains were successfully developed containing both the Weimberg pathway and a biosensor for either HXT1 (TMB CB 112) or TPS1 (TMB CB 117). LÄS MER
5. Yeasts in Brännland Cider's spontaneously fermented ice cider
Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Department of Molecular SciencesSammanfattning : Brännland Cider operates outside Umeå, in the northern part of Sweden. They produce ice cider and hard cider since 2012. Today the business produces approximately 100 000 bottles per year. Apple must is concentrated by freezing, then fermented to a level of ethanol to 7-13 vol% and at least 13° brix residual sugar.
