  1. 1. Simulation-based discrimination of Crab pulsar models with XL-Calibur

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Fysik

    Författare :Dennis Åkerström; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Astroparticle Physics; Astrophysics; Detector Physics; Simulation; Theoretical Physics; Engineering Physics; Pulsar models; Crab pulsar; Astropartikelfysik; Astropartikelfysik; Detektorfysik; Simulering; Teoretisk Fysik; Teknisk Fysik; Pulsar modeller; Krabbpulsaren;

    Sammanfattning : Polarisation of X-ray light is being investigated with polarimeters to extend the borders of what can be observed. Distant compact objects, such as pulsars, that are to small on the sky to be analysed with imaging can be investigated by analysing the polarisation of the emitted light. This can reveal physics previously hidden by their small nature. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Gravitational Collapse of a Massless Scalar Field in a Theory of Minimally Modified Gravity

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Fysik

    Författare :Atabak Fathe Jalali; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Theoretical physics; astrophysics; modified gravity; minimally modified gravity; gravitational collapse; VCDM; scalar collapse; apparent horizon; numerical relativity; Teoretisk fysik; astrofysik; modifierad gravitation; minimalt modifierad gravitation; gravitationskollaps; VCDM; skalär kollaps; uppenbar horisont; numerisk relativitet;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the spherically symmetric gravitational collapse of a massless scalar field in a minimally modified gravity theory denoted VCDM (V replaces $\Lambda$ in the $\Lambda$CDM abbreviation), a class of theories propagating the same degrees of freedom as general relativity at the expense of broken 4D diffeomorphism invariance. Numerical evolution of the equations of motion reveals that for small initial scalar profile amplitudes, no black hole forms from the collapse. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Probabilistic Exact Inversion of 2-qubit Bipartite Unitary Operations using Local Operations and Classical Communication

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Fysik

    Författare :Ludvig Lindström; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Resource Theory; Resource theory of entanglement; Quantum Information Theory; Quantum Computing; Distributed Quantum Computing; Higher-order quantum transformation; Quantum Algorithms; Quantum Physics; Resursteori; Resursteori för Kvantsammanflätning; Kvantinformationsteori; Kvantdatorer; Distribuerade kvantdatorer; Högre ordningens kvanttransformationer; Kvantalgoritmer; Kvantfysik;

    Sammanfattning : A distributed quantum computer holds the potential to emulate a larger quantumcomputer by being partitioned it into smaller modules where local operations (LO)can be applied, and classical communication (CC) can be utilized between thesemodules. Finding algorithms under LOCC restrictions is crucial for leveraging thecapabilities of distributed quantum computing, This thesis explores probabilisticexact LOCC supermaps, that maps 2-qubit bipartite unitary operations to its inver-sion and complex conjugation. 4. 4. Uranium nitride synthesis by gas/gas reaction of UF6 and NH3

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Fysik

    Författare :Serena Ambrosino; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Uranium nitride; synthesis; ammonolysis; uranium hexafluoride; uranium tetrafluoride; ammonia; X-ray diffraction; microscopy; Urannitrid; syntes; ammonolys; uranhexafluorid; urantetrafluorid; ammoniak; röntgendiffraktion; mikroskopi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis project aims to develop an innovative technique for the production of high-purity uranium nitride (UN) through the ammonolysis of fluorides. The desired objective is to perform a controlled gas/gas reaction between uranium hexafluoride (UF6) and ammonia (NH3) at 800°C. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Transient state UV spectroscopy of Tyrosine and Tyrosine-containing protein

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Tillämpad fysik

    Författare :Hongjian Chen; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Tyrosine; Calmodulin; Autofluorescence; Transient-state monitoring; Electronic state transitions; Tyrosin; Calmodulin; Autofluorescens; Transient-tillståndsövervakning; Elektroniska tillståndsövergångar;

    Sammanfattning : The aromatic amino acids tryptophan, tyrosine, and phenylalanine have been extensively used for different label-free protein studies. These investigations extract information on protein conformations and interactions from the emitted fluorescence's intensity, wavelength, and/or polarization. LÄS MER
