    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the mariological changes of the Swedish reformatory process in the 16th century. Two main questions are asked: What image, or images, of the virgin Mary are mediated in the religious literature of the 16th century, and how do these images correspond to Lutheran theology? The objects for my analysis is Luther’s Prelude on the Babylonian Captivity of the Church (first published 1520, my edition 1928 in Swedish), Swedish Church Ordinance of 1571 and Church of Sweden’s Church Order of 2019.
