  1. 1. Reindeer decrease soil carbon stocks and deplete labile soil carbon

    Master-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :Josua Seitz; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Reindeer; SOC; soils; Finnland; 13C NMR;

    Sammanfattning : Reindeer have been shown to alter boreal ecosystems by changing the vegetation cover and influencing belowground processes. By providing nutrients for plants and by exerting trampling stress on the field layer vegetation, reindeer induce shifts in the vegetation where ground-lichen are being replaced by evergreen shrubs. 2. 2. Biological Soil Invertebrate Activity in a Tropical Rainforest : A comparison of soil invertebrate activity in two tropical rain forests in Borneo

    L3-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Hanna Berglund; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Soil Activity; Bait Lamina Stick;

    Sammanfattning : Logging of tropical forests is increasing worldwide. Logging alters the forest conditions such as temperature, soil water content and litter input into the soil. This study explored how soil invertebrate activity in Borneo differs between pristine forests and two secondary forests, with 10 and 40 years of recovery time since the last logging. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Reindeer induced changes in vegetation composition and plant traits on a tundra-forest border

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Femke Pijcke; [2019]
    Nyckelord :physical geography; ecosystem analysis; plant functional traits; nutrient allocation; grazing; reindeer; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Reindeer (Rangifer tarandus) are the most common large herbivores in the arctic. With a habitat spreading over the entire circumpolar region, they can have a substantial effect on plant species composition and ecosystem processes and functions. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Ecological and Edaphic Correlations of Soil Invertebrate Community Structure in Dry Upland Forests of Eastern Africa

    Kandidat-uppsats, Högskolan i Skövde/Institutionen för biovetenskap

    Författare :Karl Mauritsson; [2018]
    Nyckelord :Natural forests; plantation forests; Brachylaena-Croton forest; Cupressus lusitanica; Eucalyptus paniculata; exotic species; biodiversity; soil invertebrates; Berlese-Tullgren funnel; vertical structure; vegetation cover; vegetation density; litter quality; edaphic factors; soil pH; soil temperature; soil moisture; ANOVA; Multiple Linear Regression; Akaike’s Information Criterion;

    Sammanfattning : Natural forests are characterised by great vegetation diversity and create habitats for a major part of Earth’s terrestrial organisms. Plantation forests, which are mainly composed of a few genera of fast-growing trees, constitute an increasing fraction of global forests, but they only partly compensate for loss of area, habitat and ecological functions in natural forests. 5. 5. Skyddsvärda kärlväxter i Haväng och Vitemölla strandbackar : – utbredning, hot och skötsel

    Kandidat-uppsats, Högskolan i Halmstad/Akademin för ekonomi, teknik och naturvetenskap

    Författare :Linnéa Persson; [2017]
    Nyckelord :sand steppe; calcareous grassland; semi-natural grassland; sandy grassland; sandstäpp; kalkgräsmark; sandmark; betesmark;

    Sammanfattning : Semi-natural grasslands are one of the most threatened habitats in Scandinavia. The grassland in this study is situated in the northern part of the nature preserve of Haväng och Vitemölla strandbackar in the province of Skåne and consists of grey dunes and a pasture which partly consists of calcareous grassland and the vegetation type sand steppe which is very rare in Sweden.
