1. Predicting True Sepsis and Culture-positive Sepsis in Intensive Care Unit with Machine Learning Techniques
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Matematisk statistikSammanfattning : Sepsis, a serious medical condition often leading to patients requiring intensive care, has prompted numerous scientists to employ mathematical techniques to aid in its diagnosis. This thesis uses logistic regression and a machine learning technique, XGBoost, to predict true sepsis (as opposed to sepsis mimics) and culture-positive sepsis (among true sepsis) in critical care using blood test results, physiological measurements and other patient characteristics. 2. Android Malware Detection Using Machine Learning
Kandidat-uppsats, Blekinge Tekniska Högskola/Institutionen för datavetenskapSammanfattning : Background. The Android smartphone, with its wide range of uses and excellent performance, has attracted numerous users. Still, this domination of the Android platform also has motivated the attackers to develop malware. The traditional methodology which detects the malware based on the signature is unfit to discover unknown applications. LÄS MER
3. Predicting Counter-Strike Matches using Machine Learning Models
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Statistiska institutionenSammanfattning : Sports betting is a widespread industry where predictive modeling play a big role. The goal of this thesis is to explore the possibilities of machine learning within the realm of e-sport prediction. The data used for this thesis is publicly available data was recorded over a three year period. LÄS MER
4. African elephants' effect on the temporal use of elephant highway by predator and prey. Makgadikgadi Pans National Park.
Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet / Institutionen för biologi och miljövetenskapSammanfattning : African savanna elephants (Loxondonta africana) are the world’s largest land-mammal and are considered a keystone species. The effect they have on vegetation and their environment is well known, but their effect on other animal species is less studied. LÄS MER
5. The Power of Credit Scoring: Evaluating Machine Learning and Traditional Models in Swedish Retail Banking
Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Graduate SchoolSammanfattning : In this paper, we investigate and compare different credit scoring models, with special attention paid to machine learning approaches outperforming traditional models. We explore a recently proposed method called the PLTR model, which is a combination of machine learning and traditional logistic regression. LÄS MER
