    Sammanfattning : Denna uppsats utforskar sambanden mellan mediekonsumtion i kommuner, särskilt tidningsprenumerationer, och politikerarvoden för kommunstyrelsens ordförande genom tillämpning av teorin om rent seeking med hjälp av statistiska regressionsanalyser. Genom att undersöka hur organisationer och individer kan arbeta för att påverka politiska system i syfte att generera “private rents”, fokuserar studien på medias roll som “gatekeepers” för att granska makthavare och politikers benägenhet att bruka sitt mandat för personlig vinning.
