  1. 1. Investigating the potential correlations between metal and metalloid concentrations and soil color : A Minor Field Study on the island province of Marinduque, Philippines

    Kandidat-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Författare :Ivana Pia Saric Söderholm; Erik Readwin; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Marinduque; Metal and Metalloid; Nix Pro 2 Color Sensor; Philippines; Soil color; X-Ray Fluorescence XRF ; Filippinerna; Jordfärg; Marinduque; Metall och Metalloid; Nix Pro 2 Color Sensor; Röntgenfluorescens XRF ;

    Sammanfattning : This study was carried out as a bachelor's thesis at KTH Royal Institute of Technology during the spring of 2023, investigating the correlation between the color with the concentration of various metal and metalloids (MMs) in the soil of Marinduque, The Philippines. With a history of mineral exploitation, notably copper and gold, the island has faced persistent environmental challenges, exemplified by the catastrophic waste spills in 1993 and 1996 that contaminated the Boac and Mogpog Rivers. 2. 2. Fytoextraktion : Är Senapskål en lämplig kandidat vid sanering av förorenade områden?

    Kandidat-uppsats, Malmö universitet/Institutionen för Urbana Studier (US)

    Författare :Lasse Bunde; Lowe Svärd Nilsson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Heavy metals; phytoextraction; arugula; cultivation experiment; contaminated soils; Tungmetaller; fytoextraktion; senapskål; odlingsexperiment; förorenad mark;

    Sammanfattning : Tungmetallsförorenade marker är ett växande problem över hela världen. En del av lösningenär att sanera de kontaminerade områden. Konventionella saneringsmetoder har visat sig varaohållbara för miljön då de leder till en omfattande förstöring av den befintligamarkstrukturen, ett mer hållbart saneringsalternativ är fytoextraktion. 3. 3. Acid sulphate soils and its influence on metal concentrations in adjacent water bodies. - A case study from Halland, SW Sweden

    Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Amanda Lindgren; [2021-03-10]
    Nyckelord :acid sulphate soils; metal distribution; surface water; climate; physicochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Acid sulphate soils have been referred to as being among the most harmful soils in the world due to their ability to severely decrease the pH of the water, consequently enabling an increased metal load to recipient water streams, lakes, groundwater reservoirs and estuaries. The presence of acid sulphate soils has triggered several fish kill episodes in northern Scandinavia and the soils are today threatening many of the national environmental goals of Sweden. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Cobalt and nickel concentrations in the Uppsala clay deposits : solubility and risk assessment

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Soil and Environment

    Författare :Ali Reza Sadeghi; [2020]
    Nyckelord :heavy metals; soil contanimation; geochemically active fraction; leaching test; guideline value; site-specific guideline value;

    Sammanfattning : Heavy metals create a contamination problem in soils. Examples of heavy metals are Ni, Co, and Cu. Soil environment and minerals existing in the soil such as Fe and Mn oxides affect the presence of these heavy metals. In this thesis, the cobalt and nickel concentrations of selected soil samples from different locations in Uppsala were determined. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Detection of metals and trace elements in rice in Matlab, Bangladesh: A descriptive study

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Internationell mödra- och barnhälsovård (IMCH)

    Författare :Shabana Azmy; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Toxic metals; essential elements; rice; Matlab; Bangladesh.;

    Sammanfattning : Rice is the staple food for almost half of the global population, including Bangladesh. This may be problematic, as rice may be contaminated with toxic metals, like arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb) due to industrialization, overuse of cultivating land, fertilizers and pesticides.
