  1. 1. The Role of Juvenile Hormone and Ecdysone in Wing Morph Determination in the Wing Polyphenic Water Strider, Gerris buenoi

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Författare :Kevin Nielsen; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Wing polyphenism; Phenotypic plasticity; Water striders; Gerris buenoi; Ecdysone; Juvenile hormone; RNAi;

    Sammanfattning : In this laboratory study, the role of juvenile hormone (JH) and ecdysone in regulating wing polyphenism was investigated in the non-model organism Gerris buenoi. Topical application of the JH analog methoprene elicited reduced pronotum, wing defects, and nymphal-adult intermediates but no changes to wing morph. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Development of a bacterial infection model in zebrafish embryos with special focus on colistin-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för medicinsk biokemi och mikrobiologi

    Författare :Anna Tamara Leber; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Danio rerio; embryo model; microinjection; innate immunity; inflammation; Klebsiella pneumoniae; colistin-resistance; antimicrobial peptides; cross-resistance;

    Sammanfattning : Zebrafish (Danio rerio) is a promising model organism for immunological studies. A time window between the development of the innate and adaptive immune system makes it possible to investigate the mechanisms originating exclusively from the innate immune system. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Genetically engineered animals in future breeding programs

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Animal Breeding and Genetics

    Författare :Gro Hylén; [2016]
    Nyckelord :Genetically engineered animal; genome editing; transgenic animal; CRISPR Cas; ZFN; TALEN; breeding; foodproduction;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this literature review is to investigate what genetically engineered animals are being used for and if genome editing is going to be a useful tool in future animal breeding. Genetically engineered animals have been used within the biomedical research field since the seventies. LÄS MER
