  1. 1. Biodiversity of Organic-Walled Eukaryotic Microfossils from the Tonian Visingsö Group, Sweden

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Corentin Loron; [2016]
    Nyckelord :Organic-walled microfossils; Tonian; cyst; green algae; eukaryote; Visingsö Group; Mikrofossil med organiska cellväggar; tonian; cysta; grönalger; eukaryot; Visingsö gruppen;

    Sammanfattning : The diversification of unicellular, auto- and heterotrophic protists and the appearance of multicellular microorganisms is recorded in numerous Tonian age successions worldwide, including the Visingsö Group in southern Sweden. The Tonian Period (1000-720 Ma) was a time of changes in the marine environments with increasing oxygenation and a high input of mineral nutrients from the weathering continental margins to shallow shelves, where marine life thrived. 2. 2. The life cycle and developmental phases of Cambrian-Ordovician organic-walled microfossils from Kolguev Island, Arctic Russia.

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Magdalena Pazio; [2016]
    Nyckelord :Saharidia fragilis; Prasinophyceae algae; life cycle; acritarchs; Saharidia fragilis; Prasinophyceae; livscykel; acritarch;

    Sammanfattning : Light microscopy studies of collections of late Cambrian/Early Ordovician organic-walled microfossils, informally called acritarchs, provide the observations on phenotypic traits that are comparable to Modern microalgae and make possible recognition of various developmental stages in their complex life cycle. The exceptionally preserved Saharidia fragilis microfossils show the internal body within the vesicle and the formation of the fringe and pylome, the opening for releasing of the daughter cells from the phycoma-like cyst. 3. 3. Early life and its implications for astrobiology : a case study from Bitter Springs Chert, Australia

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Hanna Sigeman; [2013]
    Nyckelord :FTIR; XRF; SEM; microfossil; stromatolites; Amadeus Basin; Bitter Springs; origin of life; microorganisms; exobiology; early life; astrobiology; tidigt liv; astrobiologi; exobiologi; mikroorganismer; livets ursprung; stromatoliter; mikrofossil; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Early life research faces additional challenges than those of the study of later life forms. Due to the de-materialization of the earliest rocks, valuable information about the early Earth is forever lost. Furthermore, early life was small and morphologically basic, effectuating abiotic pseudofossils to infiltrate the fossil record. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Maturity of kerogen, petroleum generation and the application of fossils and organic matter for paleotemperature measurements

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Yaser Abdullah Abdullah Al-Mashramah; [2011]
    Nyckelord :thermal alteration; thermal maturation; kerogen; petroleum generation; paleothermometres; vitrinite; conodonts; graptolites; palynomorphs; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The origin, composition and maturity of kerogen, and its conversion to petroleum is reviewed. Various methods for estimating the maximum temperature to which kerogen and potential source rocks were subjected are also reviewed. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Microspherules from the lowermost Ordovician in Scania, Sweden : affinity and taphonomy

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Jan Ulmius; [2010]
    Nyckelord :Ordovician; microfossil; embryo; pyrite; apatite; pyritisation; phosphatisation; carbonisation; Alum Shale Formation; Sweden; Ordovicium; mikrofossil; pyrit; apatit; pyritisering; fosfatbildning; kolbildning; alunskiffer; Sverige; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Microscopic spherules, 0.1-0.5 mm in diameter, from the lowermost Ordovician Rhabdinopora flabelliforme parabola graptolite Zone of the Alum Shale Formation in Södra Sandby, Scania, southern Sweden, have been investigated. LÄS MER
