  1. 1. Tribology of newly developed EAL versus water in hydropower turbine bearings

    Master-uppsats, Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskap och matematik

    Författare :Nayan Dhakal; [2019]
    Nyckelord :water-based lubrication; hydropower; turbine bearings; environmentally adaptive lubricants; modified water; viscosity modifiers; polyvinylpyrrolidone; poly sodium 4-styrenesulfonate ; UHMWPE; wear;

    Sammanfattning : The increasing demand for more readily bio-degradable, renewable and non-toxic environmentally adaptive lubricants with a lower degree of bioaccumulation has escalated the investigation of water-based lubricants as the potential alternatives for conventional mineral-based oils. Water is an excellent environmentally adapted lubricant; however, it is a low viscous fluid and holds downsides of having corrosive nature and extremely low pressure-viscosity coefficient leading to insufficient load-carrying capacity. 2. 2. Neutralization of acidic wastewaters with the use of landfilled Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) high-alloyed stainless-steel slag : An upscale trial of the NEUTRALSYRA project

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Materialvetenskap

    Författare :Rahul Puthucode; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Landfilled High-alloyed Electric Arc Furnace EAF slag; Slag neutralization potential; Slag recycling;

    Sammanfattning : The landfilling of slag obtained from the high alloyed Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) steel making process, constitutes an environmental treat for society as well as an economical problem for the companies producing it, due to the costs related to waste management practices. Conventional methods of slag recycling are abundantly used among the steelmaking business, but due to their particular physical properties, high- alloyed EAF slags cannot be properly valorized. 3. 3. Temperature distribution in air tight cavities of steel framed modular buildings when exposed to fire

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på grundnivå, Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och naturresurser; Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och naturresurser

    Författare :Elin Bergroth; Greta Torstensson; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Cavities; fire furnace; fire test; modular building; steel; TASEF; Brandugn; brandtest; hålrum; modulbyggnader; stål; TASEF;

    Sammanfattning : A common way to construct large buildings is by assemble prefabricated modules around a load bearing steel construction. However, if a fire occurs these buildings can be subject to a rapid fire spread due to its cellular nature. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Experimental Study of Mineral Carbonation of Wollastonite for Increased CO2 Uptake

    Kandidat-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik; KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Författare :Dina Babiker; Matilda Ahlstrand; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Concrete; Mineral Carbonation; CO2 Sequestration; Wollastonite; Calcium Silicate; Betong; Mineral karbonatisering CO2-sekvestrering; Wollastonit; Kalciumsilicat;

    Sammanfattning : The cement and concrete industry stand for approximately 8% of the global CO2 emissions. The demand of concrete and cement is expected to increase rapidly with the growing world population and increased urbanization. This makes it of the utmost importance for the industry to try to mitigate its emissions. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The content, chemical state and accumulation of vanadium in a drill core of Alum shale from Kinnekulle

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Kemiska institutionen

    Författare :Niklas Gunnarsson; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Alum Shale Formation; Alum shale; Kinnekulle; Vanadium; Inorganic chemistry; Oorganisk kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Exploitation of alum shale is a controversial subject in Sweden due to the history of pollution of the environment and groundwater, from past mining industries. The extraction of vanadium from alum shale is no different. Nevertheless the metal is a valuable resource used in tools, building, industries and aerospace materials. LÄS MER
