  1. 16. Effect of distance to urban areas on saproxylic beetles in urban forests

    Master-uppsats, Karlstads universitet/Avdelningen för biologi

    Författare :Jeffery Marker; [2019]
    Nyckelord :saproxylic; beetles; richness; abundance; urban forests; forest management;

    Sammanfattning : Urban forests play key roles in animal and plant biodiversity and provide important ecosystem services.  Habitat fragmentation and expanding urbanization threaten biodiversity in and around urban areas.  Saproxylic beetles can act as bioindicators of forest health and their diversity may help to explain and define urban-forest edge effects. 2. 17. The influence of temporal rainfall distribution and storm movement on flood depth in urban pluvial cloud burst modeling

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Författare :Michael Henrich; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Pluvial flooding; cloud burst; flood modeling; MIKE 21; temporal distribution; storm movement; areal reduction factors; ARFs; hyetograph; design storm; CDS; Pluviala översvämningar; skyfall; översvämningsmodellering; MIKE 21; regnmönstrets tidsfördelning; molnrörelse; areal reduktion av nederbörd; ARFs; hyetograph; typregn; CDS;

    Sammanfattning : Pluvial floods are the most difficult and to date least investigated phenomena in urban hydrology. While efforts are being made to increase the knowledge base concerning this type of flooding, a large part of the difficulty lies in the nature of the precipitation. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Solution of the Stefan problem with general time-dependent boundary conditions using a random walk method

    Kandidat-uppsats,

    Författare :Daniel Stoor; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Stefan problem; random walk method; moving boundary; heat transfer;

    Sammanfattning : This work deals with the one-dimensional Stefan problem with a general time- dependent boundary condition at the fixed boundary. The solution will be obtained using a discrete random walk method and the results will be compared qualitatively with analytical- and finite difference method solutions. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Constructing supported lipid bilayers from native cell membranes

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Lunds universitet/Biofysikalisk kemi

    Författare :Tommy Dam; [2018]
    Nyckelord :T cells; Model membrane systems; Supported lipid bilayers; SLB; biophysical chemistry; biofysikalisk kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this MSc-project was to investigate whether it is possible to incorporate native cell membrane components from Jurkat T cells into supported lipid bilayers, SLBs, to produce a model membrane system better resembling the native cell membranes in T cells. The procedure of forming native-like SLBs (nSLB) was adapted from an existing protocol and is done through the deposition of hybrid vesicles onto a cleaned glass slide. LÄS MER

  5. 20. CFD simulation of dip-lubricated single-stage gearboxes through coupling of multiphase flow and multiple body dynamics : an initial investigation

    Master-uppsats, Linköpings universitet/Mekanisk värmeteori och strömningslära

    Författare :Nasir Imtiaz; [2018]
    Nyckelord :transmissions; churning losses; CFD; STAR-CCM ; FZG gearbox; planetary gearbox; RBM; MRF; unsteady framework; VOF; immiscible; overset meshing technique;

    Sammanfattning : Transmissions are an essential part of a vehicle powertrain. An optimally designed powertrain can result in energy savings, reduced environmental impact and increased comfort and reliability. Along with other components of the powertrain, efficiency is also a major concern in the design of transmissions. LÄS MER
