Syftet är att med hjälp av en genreanalys öka förståelsen för hur programmen förhåller sig till sitt demokratiska uppdrag som ingår i genrens ideal, och därmed hur de uppfyller den demokratiska roll de fått samt tillskrivit sig själva.
