  1. 6. Exploring a unique pocket in Galectin-8N by the synthesis of D-galactoside-based benzimidazole inhibitors

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Centrum för analys och syntes

    Författare :Sid Bartold; [2023]
    Nyckelord :organic chemistry; synthesis; gal; gal-8; gal-8N; galectin; galectin-8; galectin-8N; inhibitor; drug development; benzimidazole; galactoside; carbohydrate; carbohydrate chemistry; Suzuki-coupling; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Galectins are a family of glycan-binding proteins where galectin-8 is a part of the subgroup known as tandem-repeat type galectins. Galectin-8 is composed of two homologous CRDs, one N- and one C-terminal CRD. As it stands now, galectin-8N has been found to bind to a larger number of glycans than galectin-8C. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Operating procedures and evaluation of a carbon capture pilot plant

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Kemiteknik (CI)

    Författare :Isac Logeke; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Carbon Capture and Storage; CCS; AMP DMSO; amine absorption; pilot plant; operating procedures; chemical engineering; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The rise in global emissions of carbon dioxide and the need for new technologies to combat climate change has prompted extensive research into carbon capture methods. This master thesis focuses on a novel carbon capture absorption technology, developed at Lund University, that utilizes the amine 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol (AMP) in the organic solvent dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) to capture CO2. 3. 8. The potential nitrous oxide emissions in a permanent grassland chronosequence

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Forest Mycology and Plant Pathology

    Författare :Sandra Lillsjö Kronblad; [2023]
    Nyckelord :nitrous oxide emission; permanent grasslands; denitrification; nitrous; reen house gas; agriculture;

    Sammanfattning : As a part of a larger project (Belowground biodiversity of grasslands – conservation needs and potential to promote sustainable agriculture), this study aims to investigate potential nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions and microbial gene abundances needed for the production (nirS and nirK) and reduction (nosZI and nosZII) of nitrous oxide in soil of permanent grasslands of various age. Thegrasslands have at different times been converted to permanent grasslands and are of interest because of the possibility to shed more light about the passage of time’s affects on the soil microbialcommunities and their activity. 4. 9. Fungal Effects on Tree Growth in a Primary Succession

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and Management

    Författare :August Hedberg; Julian Säflund; [2023]
    Nyckelord :primary succession; succession; ectomycorrhiza; saprotroph; tree growth; Pinus sylvestris; soil fungi;

    Sammanfattning : In the Boreal zone, ectomycorrhiza is the most common mycorrhiza found among trees and helps with nitrogen and nutrient uptake. Most research on mycorrhiza, its effect, and community development are done on secondary succession (succession in an ecosystem after a disturbance) such as after a clearcut. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Companion crops in winter oilseed rape : effects on nitrogen concentration, biomass, and prevalence of weeds at the end of autumn growth

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Crop Production Ecology

    Författare :Stina Johansson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :biomass; companion crops; intercropping; legumes; nitrogen concentration; organic cultivation; weeds; winter oilseed rape;

    Sammanfattning : Intercropping can be used as a management system to promote higher yield as well as less weeds,diseases, and insect damage. Legumes are a commonly used companion crop (CC) in intercropping due to the benefit of nitrogen (N) fixation. LÄS MER
