  1. 1. Can alteration in host odor blends change the olfactory preferences in Spodoptera littoralis?

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Plant Breeding (from 130101)

    Författare :Hanna Olovsson; [2017]
    Nyckelord :host preference; Spodoptera littoralis; induction of feeding; cotton; olfactometer; y-tube;

    Sammanfattning : Gustatory and olfactory stimuli have been shown to induce feeding preferences in generalist phytophagous insect species. Generalists have to process a lot of information while performing host selection and it has been suggested that this may be a limitation, while it makes the host detection slower than for specialist species that process a lower amount of information. 2. 2. Äggläggningspreferenser för honor av väddnätfjäril, Euphydryas aurinia, på området Bälsalvret, Gotland

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Författare :Lina Fransson; [2015]
    Nyckelord :Euphydryas aurinia; Oviposition preferences; Succisa pratensis; Euphydryas aurinia; äggläggningspreferens; Bälsalvret; Succisa pratensis;

    Sammanfattning : This study aims to get a better understanding of the oviposition-behaviour of the butterflyMarsh Fritillary (Euphydryas aurinia), in the area Bälsalvret on the Island of Gotland. Thestudy may provide helpful information to aid the conservation of the species in the area andalso provide overall knowledge about the female’s preferences when it comes to choosingmicrohabitat and host plant for their eggs. 4. 4. Differences in host plant preferences and olfactory physiology between populations of the moth Spodoptera littoralis established in Egypt and Benin

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Plant Breeding (from 130101)

    Författare :Louise Wyke; [2013]
    Nyckelord :Odour collection; electroantennographic recordings; Spodoptera littoralis strains; oviposition preferences; larval development; diets;

    Sammanfattning : This study was made to compare and distinguish any differences in olfactory recognition and host plant adaptation between two strains of cotton leaf worm, Spodoptera littoralis. The populations used were established in Egypt and Benin, Africa. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Habitat selection and oviposition of the endangered butterfly Scolitantides orion in Sweden.

    Master-uppsats, Institutionen för fysik, kemi och biologi; Tekniska högskolan

    Författare :Camilla Jansson; [2013]
    Nyckelord :Butterfly; conservation; habitat preferences; habitat requirements; life stages; Lycaenidae; oviposition; Scolitantides orion;

    Sammanfattning : Detailed knowledge about the habitat requirements of butterflies is vital for successful conservation. The aim of the present study was to examine the habitat requirements of the endangered butterfly Scolitantides orion on 15 sites in Östergötland, Sweden. LÄS MER
