  1. 1. Diatoms from the late Holocene of the western Chukchi Sea, Arctic Ocean: environmental signals and palaeoceanography

    Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för geologiska vetenskaper

    Författare :Erik Browaldh; [2022]
    Nyckelord :diatoms; late holocene; SWERUS-L2-2-PC1; Herald Canyon; Chukchi Sea; ice-algae; sympagic; cryophilic; warm water diatom; Bering Sea Water species; bottom water temperature; BWT; benthic foraminifera; palaeothermometry; ice dynamics; Fragilariopsis; Fossula arctica; Paralia sulcata; Shionodiscus oestrupii; Thalassiosira simonsenii; Chaetoceros; Chaetoceros sp. 7;

    Sammanfattning : The sediment Core SWERUS-L2-2-PC1 (2PC) retrieved from the Chukchi Sea, Arctic Ocean sits in an oceanographically dynamic location at the Arctic-Pacific Ocean gateway. The 8.3 m-long core was retrieved in Herald Canyon at the marginal ice zone at 57 m depth. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Palaeomagnetism and Magnetic Fabrics of The Lake Natron Escarpment Volcano-sedimentary Sequence, Northern Tanzania

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Gülsinem Polat Wiers; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Natron Escarpment; Northern Tanzania; Paleomagnetism; Geomagnetic Polarity Time Scale; Anisotropy of Magnetic Susceptibility;

    Sammanfattning : The East African Rift System diverges in the Lake Natron Basin of Northern Tanzania and is a major zone of continental extension and crustal thinning with resulting in active tectonics and volcanism. The discovery of Acheulean technology in Olduvai Gorge and Peninj as well as the presence of significant volcanic centers, has made in the region subject to studies in various disciplines. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Geochemical and palaeomagnetic characteristics of a Swedish Holocene sediment sequence from Lake Storsjön, Jämtland

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Joakim Robygd; [2015]
    Nyckelord :Jämtland; geochemistry; palaeomagnetism; PSV; sedimentation rate; Holocene development; geochronology; climate change; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : As a part of a French-Swedish collaboration project to reconstruct middle to northern European climate variations during the Holocene, a sediment sequence from Lake Storsjön, Jämtland was retrieved and analysed for geochemical and palaeomagnetic properties. The subsampled sequence, composed of one freeze core and three Niederreiter piston cores, revealed information of both climatic, environmental and anthropogenic changes over the past 10,800 years. 4. 4. Palaeomagnetic secular variations in the varved sediments of lake Gościąż, Poland : testing the stability of the natural remanent magnetization and validity of relative palaeointensity estimates

    Magister-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Andreas Nilsson; [2006]
    Nyckelord :Palaeomagnetism; Holocene varved lake sediments; varve chronology; geomagnetic models; Holocena varviga sjösediment; varvkronologi; geomagnetiska modeller; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Fyra två meter långa borrkärnor, med sjösediment från Gościąż, Polen, analyserades med hjälp av den s.k. Pseudo-Thellier metoden, en metod som används för att utvärdera tillförlitligheten av variationer av styrkan i det jordmagnetiska (palaeointensiteten) fältet över tiden. LÄS MER

  5. 5. En paleomagnetisk detaljstudie av Sarekgångsvärmen

    Magister-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Erik Eneroth; [2000]
    Nyckelord :palaeomagnetism; Seve Nappe Complex; northern Swedish Caledonides; extensional environments; continent-ocean transition; dolerite; sheeted dyke complex; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Populärvetenskaplig sammanfattning: Vid Favorithällen i Sareks Nationalpark i Norra Lappland finns bergarter som bildades på havets botten för ca 600 miljoner år sedan (i slutet av prekambrium). I det skedet var berggrunden på väg att dras isär i samband med att en ny ocean bildades. Tjocka sedimentpackar med bl.a. LÄS MER
