  1. 1. Wastewater Characterisation for Design and Modelling of Primary Settlers at Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plants

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Industriell elektroteknik och automation

    Författare :Louise Westin; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Primary Settling Tank; Wastewater Treatment; Settleometer; Particle Settling Velocity Distribution; Modelling.; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : The primary settling tank (PST) is often one of the first treatment steps at a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) and is the first process in the plant to remove significant amounts of suspended solids. Its role in wastewater treatment however, has oftentimes been neglected and little effort has been made to optimize and model the process. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Characterization of Pressure and Velocity Fields in Acoustophoresis Using Particle Tracks

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Tillämpad fysik

    Författare :Jonathan Karlsson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Acoustofluidics; Acoustophoresis; Ultrasonic Standing Waves; Acoustic fields; Particle tracking; Bio marking; Akustofluidik; Akustofores; Stående Ultraljuds Vågor; Akustiska fält; Particle tracking; Bio-markering;

    Sammanfattning : This master’s thesis explores the possibility of calculating and using the pressure andvelocity fields responsible for acoustophoresis. The goal was to use simulated data,similar to two-dimensional particle tracks from a specific microfluidic platform, toestimate the force potential and solve the partial differential equation (PDE) thatgoverns the relationship between the force potential and the acoustic fields. 3. 3. Experiments and simulations of gas flow through a NiCd battery

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Författare :Sarah Petersson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :NiCd; battery; porous medium; experiment; CFD; NiCd; batteri; poröst medium; experiment; CFD;

    Sammanfattning : This report describes the thesis work carried out regarding experiments and simulations of the gas flow through a NiCd battery. The objective of the work was to investigate how different geometries of the flip top vent on the battery and the level of porosity of the flame arresting disc impacted the amount of potassium carbonate created at the outlet of the vent. 4. 4. Machine Learning for Pulse Shape Analysis of Heavy Ions

    Magister-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad kärnfysik

    Författare :Steven Hendrik Bijl; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Heavy Ions; Machine Learning;

    Sammanfattning : Most of the Generation IV nuclear reactors designs are intended to operate with a fast neutron spectrum. This necessitates further investigation into nuclear fuel behaviour because fast neutrons yield a higher neutron multiplicity with fission fragments, significantly impacting the criticality assessment of these reactors. 5. 5. Transverse Momentum Spectra in pp collisions (\sqrt{s}\) = 7 TeV and \(\sqrt{s}\) = 13 TeV in ALICE

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik

    Författare :Andreas Stokkeland; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Multiplicity; Multiplicity classes; Soft interactions; Quark Gluon Plasma; QGP; transverse momentum; p_T; Chi-squared; fits; fit functions; Levy; Lévy; Exponential; BGBW; Boltzmann-Gibbs blast-wave; Fermi-Dirac; Bose-Einstein; Boltzmann; pion; kaon; proton; transverse momentum spectra; p_T spectra; surface velocity; Minimum Bias; MB; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : In this project particle production as a function of transverse momentum (\(p_{\rm T}\)) in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy (\(\sqrt{s}\)) of 7 TeV and 13 TeV has been studied. The transverse momentum is interesting to study since it reflects momentum created in the collision (before the collision, all momentum is in the beam - going in a longitudinal direction) and therefore gives information on the collision dynamics.
