Studien som är kvalitativ och abduktiv relaterar teoretiskt till Benjamin Blooms kognitiva, affektiva och psykomotoriska lärandedomäner som översätts till pastoral kontext för jämförelse av vad utbildningen bidragit till, samt till David Kelseys Aten-Berlin-begrepp för att jämföra pastorernas utbildningsideal med pastorsutbildningens utbildningsform.
