  2. 2. Deciphering the effect of the EU Emissions Trading System: A panel data study on EU member states' FDI outflows

    C-uppsats, Handelshögskolan i Stockholm/Institutionen för nationalekonomi

    Författare :Malcolm McGrath; Noak Prahl; [2021]
    Nyckelord :EU ETS; FDI outflows; Panel data analysis; Carbon leakage; Pollution haven hypothesis;

    Sammanfattning : This paper examines the effect of the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) on foreign direct investment outflows of European Union member states. A panel data set on FDI outflows for 33 countries ranging from the year 1995 to 2019 and the empirical methods of multiple linear regression, difference-in-differences, and triple difference are used to examine the effect. 3. 3. Do foreign direct investments impact carbon dioxide emissions in countries with low and medium human development? : An empirical study on 60 countries between 1970 and 2018

    Kandidat-uppsats, Södertörns högskola/Institutionen för samhällsvetenskaper

    Författare :Lara Dehghani; Simon Reiter; [2021]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the relationship between foreign direct investments (FDI) and carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) for 60 countries with low and medium human development between 1970-2018. To investigate the relationship between FDI and CO2 both directly and indirectly through increasing rates of GDP, the method used in this investigation is an ordinary least squares (OLS) panel regression with logarithmic FDI inflows (lnFDI) and logarithmic gross domestic product (lnGDP) as independent variables and included year and country fixed effects. 4. 4. The effect of trade openness on CO2 emissions

    Kandidat-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för nationalekonomi med statistik

    Författare :Jacqueline Karlsson; Klara Paulsson; [2019-07-11]
    Nyckelord :Trade openness; C02 emissions; panel data; fixed effects; EKC; Pollution Haven; Samhällsvetenskapligt miljövetarprogram;

    Sammanfattning : During the last decades, both trade and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions have increased greatly. The plausible correlation between them is, therefore, an important question. The purpose of this thesis was to analyse the effect of trade openness on CO2 emissions. Using a panel data regression, 161 countries were compared over a ten year period. LÄS MER

  5. 5. FDI and CO2 Emissions in the ASEAN-5 and India

    Magister-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Ekonomisk-historiska institutionen

    Författare :Namé Martinez; [2019]
    Nyckelord :FDI; CO2 emissions; pollution haven hypothesis; Southeast Asia; Toda and Yamamoto causality; structural breaks; Business and Economics;

    Sammanfattning : With the tremendous increases in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the last four decades arose the problem of a possible relationship between FDI and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Scholars have hypothesized that international companies invest in countries with lax environmental regulations to escape high production cost, we call this the pollution haven hypothesis. LÄS MER
