    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this study is to investigate how the aesthetic, non-compulsory subject Theater, is being presented in the Swedish National Agency for Education's steering documents (Skolverket, 2011), compared to the aesthetic, non-compulsory subjects Music and Art and to the compulsory upper secondary school subjects, formerly called "core subjects", English, History, Physical Education and Health, Mathematics, Science Studies, Religion, Civics and Swedish.     Sammanfattning : This essay is the result of a close-reading of the male protagonist’s narrative in Jean Rhys’s novel Wide Sargasso Sea (1966). His narrative was examined through an interpretive lens layered with a combination of several critical onsets that form the pillars of Elaine Showalter’s theory of a metaphysical female crescent outside of male consciousness.     Sammanfattning : This essay discusses Herta Müller’s 2009 novella Der Mensch ist einGroßer Fasan auf der Welt from a spatial perspective. Drawing from ideas from theSpatial Turn in the 1980s, the main characters of the novella are analysed and it isfound that while the women of the story are able to adapt to the changing of space,the male protagonist is struggling being stuck in what can be seen as a state ofconstant crisis, which renders him practically useless in the society he lives in.     Sammanfattning : In this paper, I explore how Douglas Adams’ comedic 1979 science-fiction novel The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy could be used to improve English as a foreign language (EFL) learners’ understanding of irony. Specifically, the study is based on criteria for the English 5 course in Swedish upper secondary school and is performed using a combined theoretical framework of Dan Sperber and Deidre Wilson’s principle of relevance and Paul Grice’s maxims of conversation.
