  1. 1. Reconstruction of Radio Detector Data using Graph Neural Networks

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Högenergifysik

    Författare :Arnau Serra Garet; [2023]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The current neutrino detectors have been able to detect neutrinos in the range of TeV to 100 PeV, however, ultra high energy (UHE) neutrinos above 100 PeV still remain to be detected. A new neutrino detector, the RNO-G, is currently being constructed in Greenland with the purpose of detecting the first UHE neutrinos using radio antennas capable of measuring the Askaryan pulse generated after a neutrino interaction with the ice molecules. 2. 2. Reconstruction of the energy of neutrinos with neural networks: Event-by-event uncertainty estimation

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Högenergifysik

    Författare :Ting Wing CHOI; [2022]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : When high-energy neutrinos interact with matter, radio waves will be emitted. Radio detectionallows us to measure UHE(> 1016eV) neutrinos by instrumenting a huge volume with a sparsearray of radio antenna stations at a low cost. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Ghosts of Our Past: Neutrino Direction Reconstruction Using Deep Neural Networks

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Högenergifysik

    Författare :Sigfrid Stjärnholm; [2021]
    Nyckelord :neutrino; neural network; ICECUBE; AI; convolutional neural network; CNN; askaryan emission; charged current; neutral current; CC; NC; Keras; TensoFlow; neutrino; neuralt nätverk; ICECUBE; AI; askaryan emission; Keras; TensorFlow;

    Sammanfattning : Neutrinos are the perfect cosmic messengers when it comes to investigating the most violent and mysterious astronomical and cosmological events in the Universe. The interaction probability of neutrinos is small, and the flux of high-energy neutrinos decreases quickly with increasing energy. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Measurement of the snow accumulation in Antarctica with a neutrino radio detector and extension to the measurement of the index-of-refraction profile

    L3-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Högenergifysik

    Författare :Jakob Beise; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Askaryan; UHE neutrinos; in-ice radio detection; in-situ detector calibration; deep learning; radio neutrino detector; ARIANNA;

    Sammanfattning : High-energy neutrino physics offers a unique way to investigate the most violent phenomena in our universe. The detection of energies above E > 1017 eV is most efficient using the Askaryan effect, where a neutrino-induced particle shower produces coherent radio emission that is detectable with radio antennas. 5. 5. In-situ calibration device of firn properties for Askaryan neutrino detectors

    L2-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Högenergifysik

    Författare :Jakob Beise; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Askaryan; UHE neutrinos; in-ice radio detection; in-situ detector calibration; deep learning; radio neutrino detector; ARIANNA;

    Sammanfattning : Simulations have demonstrated that high-energy neutrinos (E > 1017 eV) are detected cost-efficiently via the Askaryan effect in ice, where a particle cascade induced by the neutrino interaction produces coherent radio emission that can be picked up by antennas installed below the surface. A good knowledge of the near surface ice (aka firn) properties is required to reconstruct the neutrino properties. LÄS MER
