The applied theoretical framework is based upon a traditional state-centric understanding of security to investigate if the predicted behaviour derived from small state theory can be captured in the Nordic states' security strategies in the Arctic region. 3. Humanitarismens offer : En idéanalys av EU:s humanitära förhållningssätt till människosmuggling som säkerhetsfråga
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionenSammanfattning : The purpose of the thesis is to challenge the traditional division between securitization and humanitarian practices in relation to migration, more specifically smuggling of migrants. Based on Nina Perkowski’s study of the relationship between humanitarianism, human rights and security and her theoretical division between paternalistic and emancipatory humanitarianism, these two interpretations have been further developed in this study, substantiated by Agamben, Foucault and Butler (among others), and produced as two idealtypes. In this paper, securitization’s process is used as frame for exploring how IPCC’s, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, claim at its conclusion (Brauch, 2009) fares in the area of CO2/climate, for an independent account and with an eye for Swedish processes in particular as they’ve been covered.
